iPhone 6 vs iPhone 6 Plus – The 6 Plus Comes With A Bigger Screen, But What Else?

Everyone is capable of noticing the screen difference between the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, but what else sets apart these two devices? To better determine what the differences are, we must first acknowledge the similarities. Starting off, they have the same color options, which include silver, gold and space grey. The storage capacity is also identical, with both devices offering 16, 64 or 128 GB of storage. Last but not least, we had to note the TouchID fingerprint scanner and NFC chip, which are also on both devices.

Design and Display

Here is where the biggest difference between the two devices lies, as everyone can notice the fact that one handset has a significantly bigger screen that the other. The iPhone 6 comes with a 4.7 inch screen and a 1334 x 750 resolution but still, the 326 ppi display is smaller than the 5.5 inch unit found on the iPhone 6 Plus, which features a 1920 x 1080 resolution and 401 ppi pixel density.

The same aluminum body design with the rounded corners can be found on both models, as the only thing hindering their “identical” status being the actual sizes. The regular iPhone 6 is smaller than the 6 Plus, but it is also thinner with 6.9 mm compared to the latter’s 7.1 mm. It is also lighter by 43 grams than the 6 Plus which weighs 172 grams.

Battery

This is another category where the two devices have different specs. The iPhone 6 Plus s a much larger device therefore it will logically provide the bigger battery. The iPhone 6 is able to provide 14 hours of 3G talk time, as well as up to 10 days of standby time. The phone can sustain 6 to 10 hours of internet browsing, and up to 12 hours of WiFi, all on 3G. Audio and Video playback are sustained for up to 50 and 11 hours respectively. On the iPhone 6 Plus, the talk time supported is 24 hours, while you can leave your phone on standby for about 16 days. The sustained internet time is 11 hours, while the WiFi time is 12 hours. For Audio and Video, the handset supports 80 an 14 hours respectively.

Camera

Although the same camera has been used for both models, which is the same used for previous iPhone models as well, the iPhone 6 Plus wins in this category due to the fact that its camera comes with a little enhancement in the form of optical image stabilization, whereas the iPhone 6 does not.

The 16 GB version of the iPhone 6 is about $800 on Amazon.com. If you want to get it cheaper you can opt for a contract version which starts at $199 for the iPhone 6 and $299 for the iPhone 6 Plus
