Nexus 6 vs Sony Xperia Z1 – Specs and Price Comparison

Last year, the Xperia Z1 made some waves, unsettling the competition for a while. It’s still considered one of the best phones thanks to its amazing camera, but soon, it will be dethroned by the upcoming Nexus 6, which will be in stores this fall. So here’s a comparison between these smartphones.

Sony Xperia Z1

Display, design and sizes

The Xperia Z1 is a high-end smartphone for sure! It has a beautiful design, and even if it has an angular design, it’s very stylish and minimalistic in the same time. The TFT display with the size of 5inches does a great job. It renders a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels and offers 441ppi of pixel density, which is enough to make the Xperia Z1 one of the best smartphones from the market.

The dimensions of the Xperia Z1 are 144x74x8.5mm, which means that it’s very slim compared to other devices. But because it weights 170grams, it’s quite heavy than other smartphones with similar dimensions. But, once you get your hands on the Xperia Z1, you won’t want to cut it loose. It feels comfortably in your hand and it looks great in your pocket.

Hardware and OS

This device is using a Quad-core 2.2GHz Krait 400 processor backed up by the Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset. It runs on the Android 4.2 or 4.3(Jelly Bean) OS – upgradable to the 4.4.2KitKat version, and it hosts 2GB of RAM, so your apps should run without any problems.

Camera

The Xperia Z1 stands out with its 20.7MP rear camera with 5248х3936pixels, LED flash, autofocus and other great features. If you already bought the Z1 model, until the release of its successor, you’ve have plenty of time to use Z1’s camera to enrich your photo album with awesome memories! This phone can record videos at 1080p at 30fps, featuring HDR, video stabilization, 1/2.3” sensor size, face detection etc.

Battery

This would be a problem for those who can’t stand phone with non-removable batteries. The Z1’s battery has the capacity of 3000mAh, and it lasts 13-15 when talking on 3G or 110 hours when listening to music.

Price

The Xperia Z1 can be bought from amazon.com at the price of 429 dollars.

Google Nexus 6

Display, Design and Sizes

According to some rumors, the Nexus 6 will feature a 5inches 2K UHD display, but we don’t know what screen resolution will support, but all Google’s future customers have high expectations from this model. Although we don’t have enough information regarding Nexus 6’s design and specs, we speculate that its release date will be somewhere in October – November (in this month, last year it was launched the Nexus 5). There are chances that the upcoming model will have a curved display, since Samsung and LG already came forth by taking this initiative to make a change.

Hardware

The Nexus 6 is supposed to run on a True octa-core, 2.4Ghz+ CPU, with 4GB of RAM or higher. The phone will probably come in a 64GB of ROM version and perhaps it will support even 128GB. But there are only theories, for now.

Camera

The predecessor of the Nexus 6 had an 8MP HD camera with 1080p@30fps video recording and other features such as back-illuminated sensors, face detection, autofocus, touch to focus, ISO control etc. What we know for sure is that the Nexus 6 will sport a 20MP rear camera (ultra low light sensitivity camera sensor).

Battery

The Nexus 5’s battery was non-removable and had a capacity of 2300mAh. The Nexus 6 will come with an improved battery, with the capacity of 3100mAh, which will allow you to talk 17-20hours on 3G.
