Assassin’s Creed Unity May Get a Successor on Last Gen

Assassin’s Creed Unity is the upcoming title from Ubisoft that revisits the historical franchise one more time but there’s no one protagonist this time around.

The four player co-op is a unique aspect that the game developers are introducing to the franchise for the first time. It had multiplayer sessions and in the Brotherhood, you will be able to call Assassins to fight on your behalf. However, they will not be controlled by humans and this makes one hell of a difference!

The new game titled Unity is not only advanced in terms of game play but is also going to be the one that brings in a new engine with improved graphics, better physics and an in-depth world populated with more realistic characters. With so many updates involved in it, it is obvious that the developers were not able to recreate it for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. It is coming only to PC and new generation consoles which irked millions of AC fans who own only those older platforms. Addressing their need, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed that they haven’t forgotten their loyal fans and something is coming for them which will be announced soon.

Assassin’s Creed Comet

Allegedly, AC Comet is the game that has been scheduled to be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 but unless Ubisoft officially confirms it, we can’t say it is the one. The issue was addressed by their CEO during an investor call where he said, “we haven’t forgotten our loyal fans on these platforms but creating a game for older generation platforms cannot be made simply out of love. There are plenty of resources and time involved in making a game that could run properly on old hardware which is why the release has to be moved to a different time.” From what he said during the meet, it is confirmed that an entirely new title is coming to the platforms which is also rumored to be about the story of a Templar and will feature game play elements that best suits the older generation consoles. Some players claim that as no official announcement is made and no word on a date, this soon could relatively refer to a time that could be months away or at least after Assassin’s Creed Unity gets released.

Adopting New Gen

Going through the scenario, it is evident that the time has come for players to adopt the new generation console, be it a Playstation 4 or an Xbox One. The games that are scheduled to get released before the end of 2014 will most probably be the last batch of titles to make its way to PS3 and Xbox 360. Moving forward with 2015, developers will start abandoning older hardware because it will be tough making the same game on four different platforms which becomes five, if you include the PC as well. Ubisoft will continue to support them as far as possible which won’t be long.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is scheduled to hit Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC on October 28.
