The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 was unveiled at the “Tab Into Color Galaxy Premiere” and Samsung hoped that with this device, they will beat the competition. But were the gadget fans convinced to buy this tablet, or they preferred Apple’s iPad Mini cu Retina Display? The Tab S is superior to the iPad Mini and it costs more money, but if you ask us, we’d definitely choose Samsung’s device for its high performance.
Designs
According to Samsung’s website, the Galaxy Tab S is available in two shades: dazzling white and titanium bronze. It weight over 280grams and it measures: 212.8×125.6×6.6mm. Meanwhile, Apple’s website specified that the iPad Mini is available in silver and space gray shades, it weights 331grams and it measures 200×134.7×7.5mm.
Displays
Samsung Galaxy Tab S comes with an 8.4inch Super AMOLED screen that is able to support an amazing resolution of 2560x1600pixels, while the iPad Mini is equipped with a 7.9inch LED-backlit multitouch screen, with IPS technology, and it supports a lower resolution of 2048x1536pixels.
Cameras
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S has a superior primary camera, which has a resolution of 8MP, but its secondary camera is also better – 2.1MP. The Apple’s iPad Mini’s primary camera is of 5MP, while the secondary camera is of 1.2MP. But it has some “compensating” features such as five-element lens, face detection, backside illumination, autofocus, tap to focus video/images, tap to control exposure, hybrid IR filter, photo and video geotagging, HDR focus.
Hardware
The Galaxy Tab S is powered by 1.3GHz & 1.9GHz Exynos Octa-core processors, while Apple’s iPad Mini is equipped with dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 processors and has a A7 chip with motion co-processor.
OS
This is another device from Samsung that runs on the Android platform, coming loaded with the 4.4 Kitkat version, while the Apple iPad Mini is running on the iOS7.
Memories
The Galaxy Tab S has a variant of internal memory – 16GB, expandable up to 128GB, and also has 3GB of RAM. The Apple iPad Mini has 16, 32 and 64GB of internal memory, but it’s unexpandable. Plus, it has only 512MB of RAM.
Prices
On amazon.com, you can find the Galaxy Tab 8.4-inch model at the price of 329 dollars. The Apple iPad Mini costs 267 dollars.
