If you can’t afford to buy the HTC One, then you can have a smaller version with almost the same specs. It doesn’t come with the IR blaster, NFC and optical image stabilization, but since the HTC One Mini is a lot cheaper, then you’ll be happy with what you get. The Nexus 5 is superior in terms of screen resolution, processor and battery and its price isn’t high either. So, which phone you should buy?
Displays and sizes
The mini version of the HTC One has a 4.3inches Super LCD2 screen that is capable of supporting a resolution of 720x1280pixels. The Nexus 5’s display is larger – 4.95inches, and it is a True HD IPS screen that renders a higher resolution of 1080x1920pixels.
The HTC One Mini is a lot smaller than its brother, measuring 132×63.2×9.3mm and it weights 122grams, being 8grams lighter than the Nexus 5, which is measuring 137.9×69.2×8.6mm.
Hardware and OS
The HTC One Mini is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset with a 1.4GHz dual core krait 200 processor and has 16GB of internal storage, but it’s unexpandable.
The Nexus 5’s hardware is superior, being powered by Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset with a 2.3GHz quad core krait 400 processor. The smartphone is available in two variants of internal memories: 16 and 32GB, also unexpandable.
Both of these smartphones run on the Android platform, but on different versions: the HTC One Mini is running on the Jelly Bean version with 1GB of RAM, while the Nexus 5 is running on the KitKat version with 2GB of RAM.
Cameras
These phones have cameras that share the same features: autofocus and LED flash. The HTC One Mini’s rear facing camera is of 4 Ultrapixel, while the front camera is of 1.6MP. The Nexus 5 is equipped with an 8MP primary camera and another 1.3MP secondary camera.
Batteries
Both of the devices have non-removable Li-Po batteries, but HTC One Mini’s battery has a lower capacity – 1800mAh, which allows you to talk 13hours on 3G. The Nexus 5’s battery is more superior, because it has a capacity of 2300mAh, which allows you to talk 17hours, on 3G.
Prices
The HTC One Mini 601E costs 380 dollars on amazon.com. The Nexus 5 16GB variant has the same price as the HTC One Mini, while the 32GB variant costs 456 dollars.
