Moto G vs Moto X2 – Comparison of the Siblings

Overview

Motorola was struggling for a long time to make an impact in the smartphone industry and almost none of the Smartphones lived up to the expectations of the users and they were all discontinued.

But Motorola came back with a bang and launched Moto G and Moto X. These two smartphones took the market by storm and they are reported to be running out of stock in a number of stores. This has forced the company to launch the second version of Moto X. Here we compare it with Moto G to provide users a clear idea about the design specifications.

Screen Size and Display Quality

There are rumors that Moto X2 will be released in a few months. If we talk about the size of the phones, then Moto X2 is a clear winner with a screen size of 5” offering far better display qualities than Moto G and the previous version of the phone. Also, Moto X2 is expected to feature an AMOLED type display while Moto G features an IPS LCD. The Moto X2 will come with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display feature which will provide a real time video streaming as compared to Moto G.

Processor & RAM

The new version of Moto X is expected to be configured with a 2.3 GHz Quad Core processor which will provide lightning fast processing speed. The RAM of Moto X2 is double as compared to Moto G. The 1 GB RAM of Moto G provides healthy processing and functioning but the 2 GB RAM of Moto X would enable the users to install any heavy game and application without giving it a second thought.

Camera and Video Recording

The camera of Moto G is 5 MP which is a good configuration as per the price and specification of the phone but sometimes the images are found to be hazy. On the other hand, the camera of Moto X is rumored to be increased to 12 MP which was 10 in the first version. This enables a full HD video recording and a real time photography experience. Also, the front camera of Moto X2 is 2 MP, which enables you to click impressive ‘selfies’. The internal memory of Moto G and Moto X2 is almost the same and there are no such amendments in this field.

Battery Backup

The battery backup of Moto X2 will be definitely better than Moto G. The battery of Moto G is of 2070 mAh while Moto X2 is configured with a 2200 mAh battery. The 3G connectivity of Moto X2 is also far better than Moto G.

Verdict

Overall, these two smartphones are a great leap forward for Motorola and it will help it redeem its old reputation. Without giving too much of a thought to Motorola’s recently declining reputation, you can go for any of the two phones depending upon your budget.
