MacBook Pro Retina 2013 – Key Features, Specs And Price

The new MacBook Pro comes with many exciting features and is certainly the best Mac Machines (with 13 inch display) in the recent years, if you’re looking for a good mix between portability and power. The basic model starts at $1,299. Obviously, it cannot compete with 15-inch models that come with dedicated graphics chips and quad-core processors, but that won’t be a big issue for lot of everyday users.

MacBook Pro Retina 13-inch

Apple has introduced Intel’s latest Haswell processors to its MacBook Pro line. This has boosted the CPU performance and battery life. If you really want to upgrade your MacBook Pro, now’s the time to do so!

Design

The new MacBook Pro with retina display sports a lighter and thinner design than non-Retina MacBook models. But the latest 2013 model is tad lighter and thinner than 2012 model, by about 0.1 lbs and 0.04 inches. It’s certainly not a big different, but every bit helps. 2013 MacBook Pro is definitely the slickest one and has the same 13-inch display as the older non-Retina MacBook models, its body has slightly smaller length and width (about quarter-inch or so). Another big improvement in the latest model is its stereo speakers that are mounted on its either ends just below the side edges. This ensures an impressive stereo sound when you’re watching a video content or listening to music. These speakers offer a much better quality than older MacBook Pros where the speakers were mounted near the hinge.

Ports and connections

As for connections and ports, the latest MacBook Pro is equipped with two Thunderbolt ports on the left side and two USB 3.0 ports on either side of the laptop. There’s also a SD card slot and a full-size HDMI port on the right side. There’s also a combo microphone/headphone jack on the left side, with separate dual microphones for audio or video chatting, which seamlessly work together to silence all background noise.

Hardware

The new MacBook Pro has an entry-level 2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor and boosted 8GB of RAM. It also has a 128 GB of solid state storage. If you want more power, you can also squeeze in 2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 CPU and 16GB RAM and one TB solid-state storage if need be.

New keyboard system

Some new MacBook Pro versions sports “Multi-functional keyboard assemblies”. This system features separate keys or “keystacks” layered with sensors, electronics and stitches. The system sports clear keycaps layered with small configurable OLED displays. Apple’s take on these smart keyboard features a unique display-within-key concept. For example, you can easily tweak the multi-functional keystack to ensure input through a switch type button. On the other hand, the capacitive surface section offers a separate input system using multi-touch gestures. The new version of the system uses an innovative integrated backlit display in each key to offer instant visual feedback to users.

Performance

The performance of MacBook Pro is outstanding. Apps open quickly and you can open numerous windows without any problem.

Battery life

MacBook Pro uses latest Haswell processors and it’s battery life is quite outstanding. On a normal working day, your MacBook Pro can last at least seven to eight hours if you’re using several peripherals that may take up some of its battery juice.
