HTC One M8 vs Samsung Galaxy S5 vs LG G3 – Price and Specs Comparison

The LG G3 appeared on the market 3 days ago, on May 27, while the other two phones were released earlier, in March and February, this year. The LG G3 comes with five options of colors: white, black, red, gold and blue and its body might look like it’s made of metal. The HTC One M8 comes only in silver, gray and gold, while the Galaxy S5 comes in four options of colors: white, black, gold and blue and it’s dust-water resistant. But which phone is better?

Displays and designs

The LG G3 comes with a 5.5 inches IPS LCD display that supports a higher resolution than its competitors, 1,440×2,560 pixels and a also a higher pixel density of 538 ppi. Both the HTC One M8 and the Galaxy S5 support a resolution of 1,080×1,920 pixels, but the first smartphone comes with a 5 inches Super LCD3 screen, while the other phone has a 5.1 inches Super AMOLED screen.

In terms of dimensions, the LG G3 is 0.35 inches thick and it’s weighting 149 grams. The HTC One M8 is weighting 11 grams more and it’s thicker – 0.37 inches. The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the slimmest, having a thickness of only 0.32 inches, and it’s lighter as well, weighting only 145 grams.

Hardware and Software

The LG G3 comes with a 2.5 GHz a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and 2 GB of RAM for the 16 GB variant of internal storage, and a 3 GB of RAM for 32 GB variant of internal storage. The other two smartphones are powered by the same quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, but the HTC One M8’s processor is clocked at 2.5 GHz, and has 2 GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S5’s processor is clocked at 2.3 GHz, and also has 2 GB of RAM. Plus,all three devices come with two variants of internal memories: 16 GB or 32 GB, expandable by up to 128 GB.

All three devices run on the Android platform, but the LG G3 is using Optimus UI and the Galaxy S5 is using TouchWiz UI, while the HTC One M8 is using HTC Sense 6.0 UI.

Cameras

The LG G3 comes with a 13 MP primary camera (dual-LED flash) and a 2.1 MP secondary camera. With this phone you can shoot 4K, but the its camera has many advanced features such as Laser Autofocus – it takes 0.276 sec to focus, Selfie Mode, optical image stabilization, geo tagging, HDR, face detection, video & image recording.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 16 MP primary camera and a 2 MP secondary camera. Some of Galaxy S5’s camera features are: LED flash, autofocus, geo tagging, touch focus, image stabilization, face and smile detection, HDR etc.

The HTC One M8 has a better secondary camera of 5 MP (2 lenses), while the primary camera is 4 UltraPixels camera. Some of the M8’s features: autofocus, HDR, dual-LED flash, geo tagging, panorama etc.

Batteries

The LG G3 has the most powerful battery, with a capacity of 3000 mAh. Next in line is the HTC One M8 with a non-replaceable 2600mAh battery. The Galaxy S5 has a 2800mAh battery, but it has a wireless charging facility.

Price

You can find the HTC One M8 16 GB with 4G LTE on amazon.com at the price of 809 dollars. The Samsung Galaxy S5 16 GB with 4G LTE costs 5 dollars less, while the LG G3 with 16 GB of internal memory and 2 GB of RAM costs around 750 dollars, but it’s not on amazon yet.
