The Crew: What Will The Game Be?

Coming later this year, The Crew is one of the most anticipated racing games of 2014.

Set in an open world, the driving game is innovative in its software design as it manages to harness the power of the cloud. The game gives the player the opportunity to race through in a persistent open world, closely resembling the real United States. With a unique multiplayer and a 20 hour long single player campaign, the game is expected to deliver a true next-gen gaming experience. However, what exactly can a player expect from The Crew?

The Graphics

As it can be seen from the play-through trailers and demos, The Crew will deliver true next gen graphics. The visual fidelity of driving games has reached a peak point and The Crew is one of the best examples of what next-gen gaming really is all about. One of the best features of the game is that the developers have taken the time to recreate digitally real life locations from the United States, which adds to the visual aesthetics of the game.

Innovative Gameplay

Even though The Crew is a racing game, it will differ a lot from other titles. The open world will give the player a chance to experience a mix of a constant multiplayer and single player experience. The player will be able to play through the different missions either alone or online via co-op matchmaking. Moreover, in the multiplayer mode players will be able to create different teams and compete with each other through various racing game types. One of the best features of The Crew is that the game won’t feature any in-game loading screens or pauses, which further enhances the next-gen gaming experience. As the developers will try to harness the social features, which next-gen consoles provide them with, The Crew will bring significant changes to the racing genre experience.

The Crew on the Go

Today, many games offer the player a companion app for their smart device, which adds to the gameplay factor. However, most of them do not manage to deliver an enhanced experience. The Crew is a nice example of how a companion app should work. The players will be able to build and customize their cars from the mobile application, which will be made available for the iOS and Android.

The Crew is being developed by a team that includes former Eden Games with a prime assistance from Ubisoft Reflections. The developers are aimed at using the new social features that the next-gen consoles provide, to their maximum extent. The game may be one of the first titles to truly make a dent in the dominance of Need for Speed when it comes to arcade-action racing.

The Crew will be made available for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Although a certain date hasn’t been mentioned, the developers have officially stated that the game will be released in the third quarter of 2014. More information on The Crew is expected to be given at the official Ubisoft press conference at the upcoming E3 2014 event.
