iPhone 6 Plus vs Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs Sony Xperia Z Ultra vs Nokia Lumia 1520 – Best Phablet Battle

There is still a large number of smartphone users that prefer toned down devices that are compact and fit nicely in their pockets. And then there’s the other fanbase, which lives for the devices with huge display, barely staying on the “phone” side of the “phablet” category.

Today we’re giving you a comparison between some of the best devices that grab all the attention with their insanely large displays. The iPhone 6 Plus is the first phablet produced by Apple and it has quite the competition on its hands, with threats from the likes of Sony, Samsung and Nokia. That being said, let’s see which makes better use of its large display.

Design

One thing you can be sure is that whichever device you pick, you’re going to have a lot of display real estate on your hands. Storing the phone in your pocket might be a challenge, tough.

Despite the large size, all devices were designed so that they still are comfortable to hold and operate. The biggest device is the Sony Xperia Z Ultra which borderlines tablet status.

The Galaxy Note 4 not only comes with a large screen, but also what is obviously an improved design, featuring a metal frame around the edges, giving it a premium look.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 has to be the thickest of all, but the thickness difference isn’t that noticeable when compared. The device is made out of a polycarbonate body that is harder to scratch and also gives the device a nice look.

Apple is a newcomer to the phablet game, but its iPhone 6 Plus seems to be doing pretty well for itself, with a nice 5.5 inch display and a premium build aluminum body that wraps around it nicely, with a very nice touch in the form of curved glass for the edges.

Hardware

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 packs a stunning qHD display that brings sharpness in its truest form, but Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus won’t  give up without a fight, as it comes with a 1080p display, while the Lumia 1520 and Xperia Z Ultra also offer very good displays, but can’t quite match the other devices mentioned.

Although competition is fierce, the Galaxy Note 4 comes out on top by the edge, with better specification overall, including display, processor, RAM and the extra S-Pen stylus that comes with the device.

Battery

The Nokia Lumia 1520 manages to overcome its competition with the largest battery which won’t let you down. The iPhone 6 Plus left room for improvement in this category, while the solid battery of the Galaxy Note 4 helps it win yet another time, as it is combined with its very efficient power saving modes that help you get the most out of your battery.

Camera

This department, as some might have anticipated, has Nokia written all over it. Nokia is known for the quality cameras it uses for its smartphones, especially the top of the line models which use the PureView technology. Although that’s not the case for the 1520, it still performs well. However, the iPhone 6 Plus begs to differ, as it offers an 8 MP camera  which despite not having more MP, manages to provide very high performance levels, such as the slow motion mode that operates at 240 fps.

Apple’s device takes the cake here no doubt, but the Note 4 and Lumia 1520 are also worth noticing.

Media

In terms of app variety, the main choices are of course Apple’s iOS and the Android operating system which comes for the rest of the devices except the Nokia handset which uses Windows Phone. There’s nothing wrong with Windows Phone, but it just can’t compete with the other two at the moment.

On the other hand, Sony offers the best viewing experience thanks to its display, which makes it that much more pleasurable to watch movies on the device.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 pretty much takes the crown thanks to its straight forward better numbers overall, although the iPhone 6 Plus, Apple’s first phablet attempt sure gave it a run for its money until the very end.
