Minecraft 1.8 Pre-Release and Abandoned Certification for PS4 Variant

4J Studios announced about 2 weeks ago that they sent the Minecraft PS4 version to Sony for certification testing and because of that, a lot of fans hoped that this version will be in their hands before the end of August. This is not going to happen, because 4J Studios announced on their twitter account a few days ago that they will have to repeat the certification test, because some problems were found and they need to fix them before they resend the version back to Sony.

However, even if they fix them right away, the certification testing will take more than 1 week and they will not send the game to stores until the end of August. All three upcoming Minecraft versions: Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita were first announced to be released in August 2014, but now we’re pretty sure all of them will be released somewhere in September.

Minecraft for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will come with improved graphics and 36 larger game worlds. The loyal Minecraft players that already have the game on their Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will be able to upgrade to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions for only 4.99. However, the new players will have to pay 19.99 for a copy of Minecraft: Xbox One or PlayStation 4.

Anyway, if you play Minecraft on PC, they you should be happy because Mojang came with more news about their upcoming Minecraft 1.8 Update. The developers revealed the Minecraft 1.8 pre-released, under the name of Bountiful Update. Mojang said that the new update comes with new features, performance enhancements and other big structure changes. The developers also added that the Minecraft 1.8 Update will be finally launched on September 2.

Here are some of the changes that this patch will come with:

  •  A bunch of new commands
  •  Red Sandstone
  •  Guardian Mobs that will drop items
  •  Spectator mode
  •  New Achievements
  •  New player mode
