Xiaomi Mi4 vs HTC One M8 – Best Price and Specs Comparison

Today we are comparing Xiaomi’s flagship handset, the Mi4, and HTC’s own flagship smartphone, the One M8. Let’s take a closer look at what both these devices have to offer and figure out together which one would be the best buy.

Display, Exterior and Size

Xiaomi’s Mi4 comes with a Sharp/JDI OGS full lamination display which measures 5 inches and can render a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The pixel density sits at 441 pixels per inch. The imaging is quite good, as you can imagine from these specs. The design of the handset is quite sleek: although it comes with a plastic body, the device has a metal-like outlook. The device weighs 149 grams and it is 0.35 inches thick.

The HTC One M8 comes with a Super LCD3 display measuring 5 inches. The One M8 comes with the same screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density of 441 pixels per inch. The design of this handset is a very elegant, polished outcome: the device is made of metal and it comes with a wrap-around unibody frame which is curved. This device is as well heavier (weight: 160 grams) and thicker (thickness: 0.37 inches) than the Xiaomi Mi4.

Hardware, Software and Memory

The Xiaomi Mi4 is powered by a Krait 400 processor: quad core working at 2.5 GHz which is paired up with the Snapdragon 801 chipset from Qualcomm. The device supports 3 GB of RAM and it can be purchased with two options of internal memory: either 16 GB or 64 GB (there is no microSD card slot, meaning that the memory is not expandable). The operating system this smartphone runs on is Android 4.4.3 KitKat combined with the MIUI 6 user interface.

The HTC One M8 is powered by a Krait 400 processor: quad core working at 2.3 GHz which is paired up with the same Snapdragon 801 chipset from Qualcomm. This device comes with only 2 GB of RAM, as for internal storage capacity, it can be purchased with two options: 16 GB or 32 GB (expandable via microSD card by up to 128 GB). The operating system this smartphone runs on is Android 4.4.2 KitKat (which you can upgrade to higher versions) combined with the HTC Sense 6 user interface.

Camera and Battery

Regarding primary camera, we can see that the Xiaomi Mi4 comes with a 13 MP model (with features like dual LED flash), where as the HTC One M8 comes with a 4 UltraPixels camera (this one also has dual LED flash). As for secondary camera, the Xiaomi Mi4 comes with an impressive 8 MP camera, while the one on the HTC One M8 is still a pretty good 5 MP one.

Regarding battery, the Chinese smartphone comes with the better Li-Ion battery unit with a capacity of 3080 mAh, while the HTC device comes with a Li-Ion model as well, but this one with a capacity of only 2600 mAh.
