XiaoMi Mi3 vs Meizu MX2 vs MX3 – Top Price and Specs Comparison

There’s a war between these two Chinese smartphones manufacturers, XiaoMi and Meizu, each one trying to win consumers’ hearts with their products. And to understand how serious this war is, both of the companies released their first flagships in the same period of time. We’ll compare three of the phones created by these two companies to see which one should be bought.

Displays and sizes

The MX3 has the biggest display – 5.1inches, being followed by the Mi3 with a 5inches IPS LCD display. They both support the same resolution of 1080x1800pixels, but the Mi3 has a higher pixel density at 441ppi and the screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, while the MX3 has 412ppi. The second Meizu generation has a 4.4inches display with a resolution of 800x1280pixels and 343ppi.

The XiaoMi Mi3 is taller, measuring 144×73.6×8.1mm and it weights 145grams. It’s followed by the MX3, with these dimensions: 139×71.9×9.1mm and which is 2grams lighter, and the MX2 measures 124.9×64.9×10.2mm and it’s 1gram lighter than its successor.

Hardware and OS

The Mi3 is equipped with a 2.3GHz quad core Krait 400 processor (Snapdragon 800 MSM8974AB SoC), while the MX3 features an Exynos 5 Octa 5410 octa core processor. Its predecessor has an Exynos 4412 quad core processor. Also, the TD-SCDMA variant of the Mi3 has a 1.8GHz NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor.

The MX3 was the first smartphone to feature an internal memory with the capacity of 128GB, but it has three other variants of 16, 32 and 64GB, coupled with 2GB of RAM. The Mi3 has the same combination of ROM + RAM, while the MX2 has 2GB of RAM and 16, 32 and 64GB of internal storage. None of these smartphones supports microSD card slots for expansion.

The XiaoMi Mi3 runs on Android v4.3 (Jelly Bean) – upgradable to the 4.4.2 (KitKat) version, with MIUI V5. The MX3 comes loaded with Android v4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS and uses Flyme 3.0, while the MX2 runs on the Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) OS with Flyme 2.0 UI.

Connectivity

All three smartphones support A-GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi, 3.5mm audio jack and MicroUSB port.

Cameras

The XiaoMi Mi3 has a 13MP camera on the back and a 2Mp camera on the front. Both of the MX models sport 8MP rear cameras, but the newer model has a 2MP camera on the front, while the predecessor has a 1.3MP secondary camera.

Batteries

The XiaoMi Mi3 has a more powerful battery, with the capacity of 3,050mAh. It is followed by the Meizu MX3 with a 2,400mAh battery, and the MX2 has only a 1,800mAh battery.

Prices

The Mi3 16GB variant can be found at the price of 270 dollars. The 32 GB variant of the Meizu MX3 variant is available on amazon.com at the price of 427 dollars, while the MX2 16GB variant costs 369 dollars.
