Design & Display
Samsung’s Galaxy S5 weighs in at 145 grams and comes with the following dimensions: 142 x 72.5 x 8.1 mm. The design of this handset is extremely similar to the one the Samsung Galaxy S4 has, even though Samsung was saying that we will see changes in the design. Some people think this had an effect on the flagship’s sales. The smartphone comes with a faux leather exterior case which has an indented bubbly design.
The Galaxy Alpha is lighter than the Galaxy S5, weighing only 115 grams. Regarding size, it is smaller and thinner than the S5 (dimensions: 132.4 x 65.5 x 6.7 mm). As for design, we get the same faux leather material on the back but with metal frame and rounded corners.
The Galaxy S5 comes with a Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution measuring 5.1 inches, which can also hold a pixel density of 432 pixels per inch. The Galaxy Alpha also comes with a Super AMOLED display but this one has a screen resolution of 720p and is also smaller at 4.7 inches. The pixel density is inferior to the one seen on the Samsung Galaxy S5, at 320 pixels per inch.
The Galaxy S5 is powered by a quad core processor which works at 2.5 GHz. This device has the snapdragon 801 chipset from Qualcomm – which ensures a smooth performance. The Galaxy Alpha comes with an octa core processor: quad core Cortex A15 working at 1.8 GHz + quad core Cortex A7 working at 1.3 GHz. The chipset from this handset is an Exynos 5 model. The octa core guarantees a pleasant user experience.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 beats the Samsung Galaxy Alpha when it comes to the primary camera: the S5 has a 16 MP camera with multiple features, where as the Alpha comes with a 12 MP camera which might be an ISCOCELL model, although this is an unconfirmed rumor.
When it comes to secondary camera, the Galaxy Alpha has a slightly better camera at 2.1 MP, while the Galaxy S5 has a 2 MP camera.
Battery & Storage
The battery unit that is housed by the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the most powerful out of the two, with a capacity of 2800 mAh. The battery unit that the Galaxy Alpha houses, is not bad either, with a capacity of 1860 mAh, it can last a satisfying period of time because the device is not such a battery drainer.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 can be purchased with two options for internal memory: either 16 GB or 32 GB. In both cases, you can expand the memory by up to 128 GB by using a microSD card.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha comes with 32 GB of internal storage capacity, which unfortunately cannot be expanded by using a microSD card.

If you want to buy the 16 GB version of the smartphone, you can buy it at $586.99. If you want to buy the 32 GB version instead, this device is priced at $639.99.
