AVG Free Antivirus vs Avira Antivirus – What Offers Better Protection in 2014

Today we thought we would compare two great antiviruses for you to protect your computer in the best way possible. We’ll go over the pros and cons of each software, and you will be able to decide for your own which one you want to protect your computer.

AVG Free Antivirus

AVG’s Free Antivirus has become popular very fast. The free version of this software is even available on Mac, which is a plus.

What we like

  1. The software offers a 24/7 service.
  2. You get a searching toolbar which is secured.
  3. The antivirus comes with a file shredder which is absolutely secure.
  4. It has an excellent protection program against malware.
  5. Also, the malware cleanup is very effective.
  6. If you get the paid version, you can get all your money back in the guaranteed period of time.
  7. You get interesting features like blocking tracking from certain websites and more.

What we don’t like

  1. The free version is obviously not as good: it comes with lower detection rates.
  2. If your computer already has malware, the Antivirus will be hard to install.
  3. It comes slow updates.

Avira Antivirus

What we like

  1. The system comes with a file manager, registry editor and a Linux terminal.
  2. It doesn’t only give the user bootable rescue scans, but if your Windows is not able to boot – it will remove the detected malware.
  3. The scans which the Avira Antivirus offers will not affect the Windows files in any way.

What we don’t like

  1. When you are performing a full scan, the antivirus can disable test systems.
  2. If any test system is disabled, the company does not offer technical support for you to resolve the problem.
  3. The cleanup scores are not the best.
