Moto G vs. Micromax Canvas A116 Canvas HD – Comparing Specs and Features

Motorola has been edging towards success in the smartphone arena.

The company has made many changes in their smartphones. The result is the successful release of its latest device, the Moto G smartphone. Moto G comes as direct competition with the Micromax Canvas A116 Canvas HD smartphone. Micromax has overshadowed most of its Indian smartphone manufacturers with its state of the art devices released at reasonable prices.

Let us compare these two devices in terms of their specs and features to determine the better smartphone of the two.

Display

Comparing the design of the two devices makes it apparent why people are more in favor of Micromax Canvas A116 Canvas HD smartphone. The device comprises of a decent 5-inch display, similar to some of the high-end devices from Sony and HTC. However, the screen offers a resolution of 720p and has a pixel density almost similar to the iPhone 5S smartphone. In comparison, the Moto G has a tad smaller display of 4.5 inches, but the resolution is similar to that of the Micromax Canvas A116 Canvas HD smartphone. The Moto G offers the user with a slightly higher pixel density in comparison to the 294-ppi pixel density of the Micromax Canvas A116 Canvas HD device. Despite the pixel density of the Motorola device being slightly on the higher side, the margin between the two smartphones is not huge.

Both the smartphones are equipped with an IPS LCD panel offering the viewer with brilliant viewing angles. Both these smartphones offer an improved contrast ratio similar to the Super AMOLED display of the Samsung smartphones. The improved contrast ratio offers superior contrast and brightness to the user. In terms of display security, Moto G uses branded Gorilla Glass 3 coating, as compared to the scratch resistant glass, of the Micromax Canvas A116 Canvas HD smartphone.

Operating System

Moto G was released, equipped with the Android version 4.3 that was later upgraded to the Android version 4.4 operating system. However, the Canvas A116 Canvas HD smartphone runs on the Android version 4.2 operating system.

Memory and Battery

The Canvas A116 Canvas HD smartphone comes with an internal memory of 4GB in comparison to the 8 and 16GB variants of the Moto G device. However, the Micromax device comes equipped with a microSD card slot for memory enhancement up to 32GB, which is not offered by the Moto G device.

The Moto G smartphone is powered with the 2070 mAh battery in comparison to the 2000 mAh battery of the Micromax device.

Camera

Moto G device comes equipped with a 5MP camera that is less than the 8MP camera of the Micromax device. However, both the devices come with similar features such as auto focus, LED flash and face detection. Moto G smartphone offers additional features such as HDR modes and stereo sound recording. However, these additional features have taken a toll in the picture taking ability of the Moto G camera. The device lagged when clicking pictures. Google has corrected this problem via various software updates.

The Micromax Canvas A116 Canvas HD device comes with a secondary camera of 2MP offering a resolution of 320p. In comparison, The Moto G offers a 1.3MP front facing camera.
