Galaxy Mega 2 vs Xiaomi Mi3 vs Xperia C – Best Prices and Top Specifications Comparison

Here’s a comparison between three high-end smartphones with large screens and interesting features. They’re very different from each other, and if we would have to pick a winner, we’d choose the Xiaomi Mi3 for its screen resolution, hardware performance, camera quality, battery capacity and (why not?) its affordable price.

Displays, designs and sizes

The Mega 2 will feature a faux leather rear panel with fake stitches on the left and right edges, with the camera and LED flash in the center. Although its dimensions haven’t made public yet, we expect to see a massive phablet with a 6inches display that will support a resolution of 720x1280pixels with 245ppi.

The Xiaomi Mi3 is very elegant, featuring a uni-body design, with flat back, top and bottom edges, but with curved sides. The 5inches IPS LCD display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, it supports a high resolution of 1080x1920pixels with 441ppi, the body dimensions are 144×73.6×8.1mm and the phone weights 145grams.

As for the Xperia C, the phone has a glossy aspect, a rectangular body with round edges, measuring 141.5×74.2×8.9mm and it’s fitted with a 5inches TFT display whose resolution isn’t outstanding. It supports 540x960pixels, which gives a pixel density of 220ppi. Also, the phone weights 153grams.

Hardware and OS

The Mega 2 is expected to be powered by a 1.5GHz processor with four cores, backed by an Exynos 4415 chipset and will use a Mali-400 GPU. It will have an internal memory of 16GB, which will allow you to expand it up to 64GB and will run on Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) with 1.5GB of RAM.

The Xiaomi Mi 3 is the most powerful phone between the three, being equipped with a quad core 2.3GHz Krait 400 processor, based on a Qualcomm MSM8274AB Snapdragon 801 chipset, which couples with an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. This phone has two variants of memories (16 and 64GB), but they don’t support expansion with a microSD card. The Chinese product runs initially on Android v4.3 (Jelly Bean), but you can upgrade it to v4.4.2 (KitKat).

The Xperia C comes with a decent Cortex A7 processor with four cores, clocked at 1.2GHz, it has a Mediatek MT6589 chipset, a PowerVR SGX544 GPU, 1GB of RAM and a small internal memory of 4GB, which is expandable up to 32GB. The phone runs on Android v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean).

Cameras

The Mega 2 and the Xperia C have 8MP rear cameras with autofocus and LED flash, but the Samsung device has a 2.1MP front camera, while the Sony smartphone features a VGA front snapper. The Xiaomi Mi 3 wins this section with its 13MP back camera with dual-LED flash, autofocus, HDR and other features found on the other two phones. The front camera is 2MP, being capable of recording at 1080p@30fps.

Batteries

The Mega 2 will host a removable battery of 2800 mAh, the Xiaomi Mi 3 has a non-removable battery with the biggest capacity – 3050mAh which delivers up to 25 hours of talktime on 3G, and the Xperia C has a user replaceable 2390mAh battery which allows you to talk 12hours on 3G.

Prices

The Mega 2 is expecting to cost 525 dollars in India. The 16GB of the Mi3 is priced at 310 dollars on the producer’s website and the Xperia C is available on amazon.com at the price of 272 dollars.
