iPhone 5C vs HTC Desire 601– Top Specs and Price Comparison

The rivalry between the smartphone manufactures has no limits and each one of them wants to be the best on the market. So, they make phones… smarter and smarter, integrating more unique features on them. We compared the Desire 601 with the iPhone 5C and we concluded that the Apple handset is a better choice, only if you are not bothered by the non-removable battery. So, here are more specs and features to be analyzed.

Displays and sizes

The Desire 601 doesn’t have a metallic look like the majority of the HTC models, but it has Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protecting the 4.5inches screen (TFT), that supports a resolution of 540x960pixels and has 245ppi. This phone is kind of sophisticated to handle when you are on the move, especially because the devise is thick, measuring 9.9mm. Also, it’s taller, measuring 134.5mm, it has a width of 66.7mm and a weight of 130grams. The iPhone 5C is more elegant, and the variety of colors for the shells makes it a better choice. It has a 4inches LED-backlit IPS LCD with a higher resolution – 640x1136pixels and it supports 326ppi. Its dimensions are: 124.4×59.2x9mm and it’s 2grams heavier.

Hardware and OS

The HTC handset is powered by a dual core 1.4GHz processor, based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset and it uses an Adreno 305 GPU. It has 1GB of Ram and 8GB of internal memory – expandable up to 64GB and it runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) OS – but it’s upgradable to 4.4.2 (KitKat), and has HTC Sense UI 5.0 on top of it, plus an accelerometer, gyro and proximity sensors.

The Apple device has a different type of processor – a dual core 1.3GHz Swift (ARM v7-based) which teams up with an Apple A6 chipset and a PowerVR SGX 543MP3 (triple-core graphics) GPU. It also hosts 1GB of RAM, but the built in storage is fixed and the phone comes in three variants – of 8/16/32 GB. The OS is iOS 7, which is upgradeable to iOS 7.1.2 and soon it will receive iOS 8. Like the HTC handset, the iPhone 5C features the gyro, accelerometer and proximity sensors.

Cameras

The iPhone’s primary camera is more advanced, as it has a resolution of 8MP and it’s rich in features (autofocus, LED flash, 1/3.2” sensor size, 1.4µm pixel size, HDR panorama and photo, HD video and image recording at 1080p@30fps etc), plus there’s a 1.2MP camera on the front.

The HTC doesn’t stand out with its 5MP primary camera and VGA front camera.

Batteries

The HTC Desire 616 features a Li-Po 2100mAh battery which lasts 440 hours in stand by mode and it allows you to talk around 13 hours on 3G. The iPhone 5C comes with a non-removable Li-Po 1510mAh battery, which allows you to talk only 10 hours on 3G and in stand by mode it lasts 250 hours.

Prices

The HTC model and the Apple handset can be purchased from amazon.com. The Desire 616 costs 296 dollars, while the iPhone 5C 16GB variant is priced at 505 dollars. The 32GB variant costs 563 dollars.
