iPad Air vs iPad Mini 2 – Which is The Best Tablet From Apple?

We can’t deny Apple’s supremacy on the tablet market, after stealing the first position that was occupied by Microsoft before 1990. With the first iPad, Apple rolled the dice and the “gods” were in its favor, so the consumers that initially used Huawei or Samsung products, decided to give the iPad a try and they loved it! Later, Apple released a bigger iPad named iPad Air, and a smaller iPad Mini, which they named iPad Mini with retina. Before the end of the year, Apple will release a new version of the iPad Air and possibly an iPad Mini 2, but it’s not 100% certain.

In this article we’re focusing our attention on the iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display, and we’ll try to help you decide which tablet suits you best.

iPad Air

The iPad Air has a 9.7inches Retina display, which supports a resolution of 2048x1536pixels and 264ppi. The dimensions of this tablet are: 240×169.5×7.5mm, and it comes in two variants of weights: WiFi – 469grams and 4G – 478grams. There are also four variants of built in storage – 16/32/64/128 GB (fixed) and 1GB of RAM, which is sufficient to help the processor – Dual core 1.3GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based), run very fast. The tablet is equipped with an A7 chipset and uses a PowerVR G6430 (quad-core graphics) GPU.

The device has a FaceTime HD camera on the front with a resolution of 1.2MP and which records videos at 1080p HD. The back camera is iSight 5MP with ƒ/2.4 aperture.

The iPad Air supports Wi‑Fi (802.11a/b/g/n); Bluetooth 4.0, nano SIM cards, etc. and the battery is non-removable Li-Po 8,820mAh, which allows 10 hours of multimedia usage.

iPad Mini with Retina display

The display of this model is smaller, 7.9inches, it’s Retina, with the same resolution, but the pixel density is higher – 326ppi. The sizes of this tablet are 200×134.7×7.5mm and the WiFi model weights 331grams, while the 4G model weights 341grams. Likewise the iPad Air, it has four variants of unexpandable internal memories with the same capacity, it’s powered by the same processor and has rear and front cameras with the same resolutions. And its battery promises also up to 10 hours of multimedia usage.

So, the only difference between these two tablets is related to the screen sizes, pixel density, body sizes and weight.

Regarding the exterior aspect of the two models, we’re pretty sure that the aluminum body will impress you. But this isn’t the main reason why you should choose one of the two Apple tablets.

The iPad Air is perfect for those who need bigger screens so they can easily write documents or edit photos, or even use medical apps etc. The iOS gamers will be more than happy to play on such a large display which offers a great visual experience. Also, this tablet can replace a laptop, having fast WiFi speeds.

The iPad Mini with Retina display is more appropriate for women who carry tablets in their purses. This tablet is great for those who are addicted to Facebook, or they need to send and check emails everywhere they go etc. Also, this model is indicated for eBook fans or casual gamers.
