Huawei has just made available the Ascend P6 S smartphone to China’s market. The handset is supposed to come as an improved version of the Ascend P6 – so let’s see what changes has Huawei made and figure out together if the new device is worth the buy.
Huawei decided to not make any changes in the display department, so you can see that both smartphones are equipped with 4.7 inches displays which can render a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. As for the material used to create the display, both devices show off In-cell.
The processor that powers the Huawei Ascend P6 is a quad core working at 1.5 GHz which is paired up with a Hisilicon K3V2E chipset. The company decided to make some changes when it comes to processor, so you can see that the processor that powers the Ascend P6 S is a quad core working at 1.6 GHz which is paired up with another Hisilicon chipset, but the V9R1 model. Both processors are backed up by 2 GB of RAM.
The Ascend P6 is equipped with 8 GB of internal memory space, but it shows off a microSD card slot – meaning that the memory is expandable by up to 32 GB. Huawei changed these specs with the Ascend P6 S: the device has more internal storage capacity (16 GB) but it doesn’t have a microSD card slot.
Even though the company decided to make some changes when it comes to processor and memory, Huawei left the new smartphone with the same camera features we saw in the Ascend P6: an 8 MP primary camera (with features like autofocus and LED flash) and a secondary camera of 5 MP. When shooting a video you are met with 720 pixels HD quality.
The Ascend P6 is bundled with the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean version of Google’s operating system which is combined with Huawei’s user interface: the Emotion UI 1.6. The Ascend P6 S also runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, but this one has an updated user interface: the Emotion UI 2.0.
When it comes to battery, we see the same type of battery with a capacity of 2000 mAh. Neither of the two are 4G LTE enabled.
