HTC One Max vs LG G Flex – Comparison of Prices, Specifications and Features

In the world of phablets, there are no bigger phones than HTC One Max and LG G Flex (that is until Samsung Galaxy Note 4 comes out and we see how big screen it will boast).

These extremely large phones, present a bridge between smartphones and tablets. Forget using them with hands, a special pen is needed to operate such devices.

Design and Display

LG G Flex is one of the best phones when it comes to design. Its mysterious look brings fresh air in the design area of smartphones. One Max has decent design with aluminum casing, but LG offers more luxury and indestructible look. Flex also has self healing feature, helping it disguise external scratches. HTC uses Super LCD technology for its display, while LG relies on LED technology.

LG has a larger screen size (6 inches vs 5.9 inches), but it is actually smaller phone (dimensions of 160 x 82 x 8.7 vs 165 x 83 x 10.3). While HTC has a smaller screen size, it beats LG in the resolution segment by a landslide. With 1080 x 1920 screen resolution and 373ppi, it has more than 100 pixels density than its opponent (screen resolution of 720 x 1280 and 245 pixel density). Therefore, HTC offers more sharpness and crispness for the user.

Hardware and Operating System

LG is slightly more powerful, with quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor at 2.2GHz and 2GB RAM memory. One Max also comes with quad-core processor, but Snapdragon 600 at 1.7GHz and 2 GB RAM. Flex can offer more internal storage as well (32GB vs 16GB). However, LG has no external slot, while the HTC can expand its storage memory thanks to external devices. With microSD, HTC can go up to 64GB, which comes in handy for storing applications, photos, videos and movies.

One Max takes the victory for the operating system, as it runs a newer version of Android (4.4 KitKat), unlike the Flex which is stuck at 4.2 Jelly Bean. However, LG supports Java, while HTC’s device does not.

Camera

LG comes equipped with much better camera, or it may seem like that. Flex has 13 megapixel rear camera, while One Max has moved to the 4 Ultrapixel camera. Another advantage of LG is that the handset has flash, making taking snaps during night a lot easier and with better quality. The front camera of both devices is identical, 2.1 megapixels.

Battery

A strange thing happens with the battery life. LG has a capacity of 3500 mAh, while HTC has 3300 mAh. What is strange is that HTC can handle more talk time (25 hours vs 15 hours), while LG lasts longer on standby, 720 hours compared to 585 hours on HTC.

Price
The difference between these phones is $100. LG Flex comes at $750, while the price for HTC is $650.

The Final Verdict

Both phones offer something different and have strengths in areas where the other is weak. Choosing between these two phones depends on your preferences, and what you use the phone for. Those who like to take snaps and share photos on Instagram and Facebook, will opt for LG Flex, while those who want modern phone with more usage, may choose HTC.
