Samsung Galaxy Grand vs. Lenovo Vibe X – Comparison of Specs and Features

The Samsung Galaxy Grand, released in April 2013 is a mid-range smartphone.

The device is termed as an ideal smartphone for people living a quick-paced smartphone lifestyle, demanding more from their mobile phones. Later in the same year, Lenovo released another of their smartphones in the Vibe series. Let us take the opportunity to experience the smartphone and compare the two devices in terms of their features and specifications.

Design, Built, Dimensions and Display

The Samsung Galaxy Grand can be placed somewhere between Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2, in terms of size. The smartphone is designed to be ergonomic, slim and comfortable when held in the hand. The device bears a large 5 inches TFT touchscreen comes with 480×800 pixels resolution and a density of 187 ppi. The smartphone comes in dimensions of 143.5mm in height and 76.9mm in width. The device is 9.6mm thick and weighs approximately 162 grams.

In comparison, the Lenovo Vibe X is made from plastic, yet the manufacturers have made a decent effort to make the smartphone to present a metal look instead of plastic. The edges are made rounder and the display size has been reduced. The minor curves, on the rear of the smartphone, make the phone fit easily in the palm. The rear of the smartphone comes with a scratch resistant protection. The display incorporates a 5 inches LCD touchscreen with 1080×1920 pixels resolution and 441-ppi density. The screen is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, making it scratch proof. The Vibe X stands 144mm tall and is 74mm in width. The device is 6.9mm thick and weighs approximately 121 grams.

The Vibe is much thinner and lighter than the Galaxy Grand.

Operating System and Processor

The Galaxy Grand runs on version 4.1.2 Jelly Bean Android OS. Dual core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 processor and a Broadcom VideoCore IV graphic processor, powers the device. The device has an internal storage capacity of 8GB paired with 1GB of RAM. The device also comes with a microSD card slot to enhance the memory up to 64GB.

The Vibe X incorporates MediaTek chipset with a quad core 1.5GHz processor and Cortex-A7 cores. However, the device failed to perform smoothly and lagged at every app. The device runs on Android version 4.2 Jelly Bean that is also an underlying version. The phone would take ages to open an app; hence, frustrating the user. The device comes with an internal storage capacity of 16 or 32 GB with 2GB of RAM. There is no microSD card slot for additional memory.

The Samsung Galaxy Grand is available at $339.99 in comparison to the overpriced Lenovo Vibe X that is available at $649.99. Apart from the screen, thickness and being lightweight, the Lenovo Vibe X failed in real time performance as compared to the Samsung Galaxy Grand smartphone.
