Who doesn’t like the iPhone models? They’re elegant, fast and have amazing features, so it’s no wonder why they’re so expensive. They’re the image of Apple, and Apples knows how to shock – positively! So here’s a comparison between the 4S, 5S and 5C models.
Displays and sizes
All three models have Retina displays, but iPhone 4S’s screen is of 3.5inches and it supports 960x640pixels and 326ppi. Also, it measures 115.2×58.6×9.3mm and it weights 140grams. The 5S has a 4inches display with 640x1136pixels and 326ppi, which is the same resolution supported by iPhone 5C’s 4inches screen. The difference is that the 5S is measuring 123.8×58.6×7.6mm and weights 112grams, while the 5C is 20grams heavier and it measures 124.4×59.2x9mm.
Hardware and OS
Even if it was released 3 years ago, the iPhone is still one of the most powerful mid-ranged smartphones from the market. It’s powered by a Dual-Core 1GHZ Cortex-A9 processor and has an Apple A5 chipset, a PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU and 512MB of RAM. This model came loaded with iOS 5, but it’s upgradeable to the iOS 7.1 version.
The 5S has a Dual-core 1.3GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) processor, which is baked up by the Apple A7 chipset and PowerVR G6430 (quad-core graphics) GPU. It has 1GB of RAM and it runs on the iOS 7, which is upgradable to the iOS 7.1.2, and soon, it will operate on the iOS 8, just like the 5C, but which has a Dual-core 1.3GHz Swift (ARM v7-based) processor, an Apple A6 chipset, a PowerVR SGX 543MP3 (triple-core graphics) GPU and 1GB of RAM.
Cameras
All three models have in common an 8MP rear camera with features such as: Sapphire crystal lens cover, Five-element lens, LED flash, Backside illumination sensor, Tap to focus, Hybrid IR filter, Autofocus, Panorama, Face detection and Photo geotagging. In addition, the iPhone 5S’s camera is with 1.5µ pixels and has an extra feature: Burst mode. All three cameras record 1080@30 fps HD videos.
Batteries
All three models come with non-removable Li-Po batteries, but of different capacities – the 4S has a 1432mAh battery (allows up to 8hours of talk time on 3G), the 5S has a 1560mAh battery (10hours on 3G) and the 5C has a 1510mAh battery (10hours on 3G).
Prices
The 4S model with 16GB of internal memory costs 390 dollars on amazon.com. The price of 5S 16GB variant is 675 dollars and the 5C 16GB variant is 505 dollars.
