Google Nexus 5 – Specifications, Features & Price

Nexus 5 is popularly known for being the first phone to feature Android v4.4 “KitKat”. Google and LG co-created this smartphone that features a lot of amazing specifications. Nexus 5 was first released on Google Play Store on October 2013, batch 310K, and a revision was released on November 2013, batch 311K. The newest hardware revision was released this January with the batch number of 401K. The batch name came from the year and month it was released, batch 310K meaning 3 = 2013 and 10 = October.

Design & Display

Nexus is a smartphone supported by Android. With 5.43 x 2.72 x 0.34 inches dimension and 130g weight, this smartphone can display high definition resolutions with its 5.0 inches screen size. Nexus 5 is a multi-touch touchscreen with light sensor, proximity sensor and a scratch-resistant glass. It supports micro sim cards and has a micro USB connector (USB 2.0). It also comes in 2 colors: black and white.

Hardware

Nexus 5 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 for its system chip, Adreno 330, 450MHz for its graphics processing unit and a quad core, 2260 MHz, Krait 400 processor. It is composed of 2048 MB RAM and a built-in storage of 16 GB or 32 GB but with no slots for storage expansion.

Camera

The best thing about Nexus 5 is its new and improved high-resolution camera. Its rear camera has an LED flash, 8 MP 1/3.2-inch CMOS camera sensor with OIS, F2.4 aperture size and 30.4 mm focal length. It has different features namely its Back-illuminated sensor (BIS), Panorama, Scenes, Self-timer, White balance presets, Autofocus, ISO control, Optical image stabilization, Touch to focus, Face detection, Digital zoom, Geo tagging, Burst mode and High Dynamic Range mode (HDR). The front camera has a 1.3 Megapixel resolution and 3.5 mm TRRS Bluetooth 4.0 GPS. Lastly, for its camcorder features: 1080p HD (1920 x 1080) (30 fps) optical image stabilization and video light.

Nexus 5 has an auto back-up system where it automatically saves and enhances your photos and videos. You can also use Photo Sphere and capture a whole 360° view.

Connectivity

Connects via Bluetooth 4.0, Micro USB, NFC, SlimPort, Wi-Fi 802.11 a, b, g, n, n 5GHz, ac, TV-Out, NFC, DLNA, Miracast, Tethering, Computer sync and OTA sync.

Battery

Nexus 5’s battery is not user replaceable. It has 3.8 V 2300 mAh, 8Wh, and a built-in wireless charging, it can also last 300 hours on stand-by time and 17 hours for talking time.

Price

Another good thing about this smartphone is its very affordable price. You can buy a 16GB Nexus 5 for only $349 and a 32GB for $399 on Google Play Store.
