Samsung Galaxy S5 Vs Galaxy Note 3 – Features And Specs Comparison

With the Mobile World Congress 2014 over, comparing Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was inevitable. Even though they belong to different series, there is not much to say in terms of differences, since both feature a similar design, performance and other features. If you take a closer look to them, you will definitely notice that they have both strong and weak points, which do not stop them from being Samsung’s most amazing and incredible smart phones. Let’s analyze the features and specs of the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 below.

Design

Probably the biggest differences between the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 lies in their design. Although the display resolution is the same on both devices (1080×1920 pixels), Note 3 still lacks the fingerprint scanner integrated into the home button and water-resistant treatment that will permit you to successfully submerge it 3 feet underwater that come in Galaxy S5. As expected, Galaxy Note 3 is slightly heavier compared to Galaxy S5, weighing 168 grams compared to S5’s 145 grams. However, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 features a larger display of 5.7 inches, though, whilst the Galaxy S5 has a roughly 5.1-inch screen, and although this aspect is not greatly different, it still is important and can make the difference between the two.

Performance

In terms of performance, both Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 have similar features, which makes it difficult to differentiate the two. While both devices integrate a SD card slot that will allow you to successfully expand their storage capacity, Samsung offers a 16GB version for its Galaxy S5, which makes it more versatile for those who are not necessarily interested in storage. Moreover, both phones come along with the same connectivity features, which include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G LTE. Compared to Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy S5 features less RAM and a smaller battery, as well, which might have a slight influence over its performance.

Camera

There is not a very big difference between these two devices when speaking about camera capacities. Both of them come along with a front and rear-facing camera, but still, the Galaxy S5 has a higher pixel front-facing camera of 2.1MP compared to the Galaxy Note 3’s of 2MP. Moreover, you can also notice the difference between their rear-facing cameras, since S5’s has 16MP, as opposed to Note 3’s 13MP. Furthermore, S5 relies on its capacity to shoot crisp action in vivid detail, capturing 4K videos just like its opponent. The slight difference is probably the advanced auto-focus feature of the Galaxy S5, which is lacking in Galaxy Note 3.

Even though there are several areas where Samsung Galaxy Note 3 might be the winner, there are many more that vote in favor of Galaxy S5. Beyond its performance, this smart phone is also easier to carry and handle, not to mention that you will have no problems using only one of your hands while tapping on its screen. However, the Galaxy Note 3 is undoubtedly a phablet with many advantages, which definitely makes it stand out compared to its opponent. Still, both devices bring Samsung’s smart phones to new heights, promising many improvements for their future counterparts that will probably be soon released.
