Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 vs iPad Air – Specs and Price Comparison

If you are looking to invest in a nice tablet, we have here a comparison between the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and the iPad Air, to help you understand which company provides the better choice for you: Samsung or Apple.

Display and Design

The display we see featured on the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is a Super clear LCD touch screen that has 12.2 inches (as its name says). The resolution on this device is of 2560 x 1600 pixels. The dimensions we see featured on this tablet are:  295.6 x 203.9 x 8 mm, while the deice weighs 750 g.

The display on the iPad Air is an IPS LCD LED-backlit screen that is significantly smaller, measuring 9.7 inches. The resolution is still nice, while inferior to the Samsung’s, having 1536 x 2048 pixels. The dimensions of this tablet are: 240 x 169.5 x 7.5 mm. The iPad Air is also lighter than the Samsung, weighing 469 g.

Hardware and Operating System

Samsung equipped its tablet with two options of processor: the first is the Cortex A15 which is a quad core clocked at 1.9 GHz and the second is the Cortex A7 which is also a quad core that is clocked at 1.3 GHz. The chipset that comes in the package is the Octa 5420 Exynos 5 model. The device features 3GB of RAM and two options of internal storage: 32GB and 64GB (if you choose to use a microSD card, you can expand your memory up to 64GB). The operating system on this tablet is the Android KitKat.

The processor that powers the iPad Air from Apple is a dual core cyclone processor that works at 1.3 GHz. The chipset that comes along is the Apple A7. This tablets supports 1GB of RAM and multiple choices of internal memory: 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and even 128GB (this memory is not expandable via microSD card). The iPad Air runs on iOS 7.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 has better choices of cameras than the iPad Air: an 8MP rear-facing camera (LED flash + autofocus) and a front-facing camera of 2MP.

The rear camera on iPad Air has 5MP (autofocus) and the front camera has 1.2MP.

Battery

Both devices have non-removable battery units. The iPad Air features a Li-Po 8820 battery, while the Note Pro 12.2 features a Li-Ion 9500 mAh battery.
