The Gionee Elife S5.5 is the slimmest smartphone in the world.

Apple’s iPhone 6 is one of the slimmest. The battle between these two slim devices is very even, but if you need to decide between the two of them, which one would you choose? Stay with us as we compare their specifications and features.

Design and Display

The Elife S5.5 is one truly beautiful device. The design of the handset is superb, and being extra slim, allows for better usage in the hand as users can reach the corners with greater ease. The handset is made of glass, with metal on the sides. The dimensions of the Elife S5.5 are 145x70x5.6. Apple’s iPhone 6 is in a class of its own when it comes to design, but Elife S5.5 is very close to the premium feel and look. The iPhone 6 has made a huge progress in the thickness department, and at 6.9, it is one of the slimmest smartphones out there. The dimensions are 138x67x6.9, weighting 129 grams. When it comes to display size, the Elife S5.5 boasts 5 inches SUPER AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080×1920. The display is so sharp and crisp, that colors pop at you. The iPhone 6 features 4.7 inches display, with resolution of 750×1334 pixels.

Hardware and Operating System

The Elife S5.5 comes with an unusual, octa core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.7GHz with the support of 2GB RAM memory. On paper eight cores sound great, but the reality is something different. Another downside of the Elife S5.5 is the internal storage. The device comes with only 16 GB of internal space, with no slot for microSD card. For users who like to download tons of music, games and videos, or even take pictures, this is an issue. Apple’s device has one of the most powerful chipsets on the market, a 64bit dual core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, with 1 GB RAM memory. Apple’s device also doesn’t have a microSD slot, but is available with 128 GB of internal storage.

The Elife S5.5 runs on an older version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with a custom skin. Users can customize and change the interface a bit, but the reality is that the OS is rather old. The iPhone 6, on the other hand, ships with the latest iOS 8 with lots of new features, like HealthKit application and NFC technology for mobile payment.

Camera

Selfie fans will love the Elife S5.5. Packed with a 5-MP front facing camera, it is a pleasure to take pictures. The rear facing camera is also powerful, a 13-MP sensor that is on the level with many high end smartphones. The iPhone 6 comes with just a 8-MP rear facing camera, but with many features, including the opportunity to make time lapse videos. The front facing camera is a 1.2-MP sensor.

Battery

The Elife S5.5 is one of the most reliable phones when it comes to battery life. Its 2300 mAh battery can last 27 hours on talk time and 493 hours on standby mode. The iPhone 6 comes with a 1800 mAh battery that can handle 14 hours of talk time and 10 hours of internet browsing.

Price

One of the biggest advantages of the Gionee Elife S5.5 is the price. For just around $400, customers get their hands on a premium, high end device. Apple’s handset is priced at $650 for the off contract version, while the contract version starts at $199.
