Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 vs Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 – Comparison of Specifications and Pricing

The ‘Pro’ range of tablets from Samsung indicate a premium quality both in terms of the hardware used and the features present.

Currently, there are two different versions of Pro tablets being sold by the company. The first is the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, which is like every other tablet from Samsung, but with a lot of features thrown in. The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, meanwhile, is seen as a larger version of the Note range of devices.

Design

Like many of the tablets from Samsung, the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 feature a 16:9 aspect ratio design. This makes them extremely competitive when it comes to multimedia experience. This also gives them an edge over the iPad, which still retains the 4:3 format. These two Samsung tablets are extremely good when it comes to watching movies and it is also easy to hold them in hands, partly because they are extremely lightweight and partly because they are made of premium quality materials.

Due to the recent criticism faced by its high end smartphones, Samsung has ensured that the materials used on the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 are of the highest order.

Memory

The Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 takes the edge in this regard by offering significantly more memory as standard. The basis version starts with the 32 GB of internal memory and goes up to 64 GB. The Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, meanwhile, only offers half this amount has internal memory. However, it manages to redeem itself by providing 64 GB of external memory card support, which again is a feature present in the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 as well.

As far as RAM goes, the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 are similarly equipped with 2 GB of RAM that should be more than sufficient for even the best of multitasking requirements.

Processor

Of course, the multitasking aspect depends further on the processing speed as well. The usage of the octa core processor ensures that these two tablets have what it takes to not only handle the Android 4.4 operating system, but also provide the necessary power for several apps as well. The two processors are almost identical in terms of specifications and this is the same story with the graphics processing unit too.

A disappointing aspect maybe the use of the Exynos chipset rather than the snapdragon processor. Exynos are currently popular for their octa core versions.

The Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 slightly manages to leap ahead in terms of battery life as well because of a 9220 mAh unit. This is slightly more powerful than the 8220 mAh battery on the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. However, given that the latter uses a smaller display, this is likely to be insignificant in most cases.

The Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 retails in the market for $ 377, while the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is slightly more expensive at $ 550 for the 32 GB version.
