LG G3 – Release Date, Price, Specs and New Features

If you’re not interested in HTC One M8 , Sony Xperia Z2, and Samsung Galaxy S5 then there’s another flagship Android phone that could be worth waiting for and it’s LG G3! Here you’d know more about LG G3 release date, price, specs and new features.

The LG G2 smartphone was announced in mid August 2013 and has emerged as a top seller. Millions of people own it and are extremely impressed. In other words, the new LG G3 has very large shoes to fill.

Release date

LG is planning to launch LG G3 on 27 May and has already sent out invitations for the launch event. There will be press events in New York, San Francisco, and London with another unveiling in Singapore, Istanbul and Seoul on 29th May.

Price

As for the smartphone’s pricing scheme, there are rumors that it would cost $200 on contract, or $650+ without any carrier subsidies.

LG G3 Specs

Display

According to some industry sources, the LG G3 will have 1440 x 2560 QHD display. It will possibly be 5.5 inches in size, which if true would mean 535 pixels per inch. Currently 1080 x 1920 is the go-to resolution for flagship phones like Sony Xperia Z2 and Samsung Galaxy S5 but if LG G3 wants to stand out from the crowd then QHD screen could be of great help, and according to some rumors, QHD screen seems all but guaranteed, at least in one of the versions of this handset.

Processor and RAM

The earlier LG G2 had 2.26GHZ quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, and its performance was quite impressive, but now it is being said that LG might use its in-house octa-core Odin processor in LG G3. While speed of this processor hasn’t been confirmed, but some reports claim that it will have four cores clocked at 2.1GHz and other four clocked at 1.7GHz. This will definitely give a sizeable and stabilized boost to the phone over the LG G2. LG G3 is tipped to come with around 3GB RAM, up from 2GB available in G2. This will keep it in line with its direct rivals. The smartphone will also sport 32GB of internal storage and a separate microSD slot.

Operating system

Most probably, LG G3 will use Optimus UI and will also include recent innovations such as Knock Code, which will take KnockOn to the next level allowing you to tap a pattern on its screen even when it’s off, to both turn it on and also unlock it. LG is overhauling its smartphone UI specifically for the G4, and screen shots have appeared online on many websites claiming them to be LG’s next generation interface. If legit, you can expect the phone to sport a much flatter user interface which will look less childish than the overlay on the G2, while the weather and clock widget has an air of Samsung’s TouchWiz about it.

Camera

There are many rumors that LG G3 will sport a camera with 16MP sensor, but some recent leaks suggest that it will be a 13MP one and can take photos at 4:3 ratio.

Chassis

LG had done a fairly good job by keeping the G3 design quiet, and now information has started to slip out. A recent photo of LG G3 that emerged on a review website shows that it still retains its rear volume buttons, but they might have a much flatter design this time, leading to a much sleeker build. The body is made of polycarbonate and its back cover is removable with no buttons on the front or sides. There might be few changes and the phone’s power key might have LED in it.

Fingerprint or eye scanner

There are reports that LG G3 might sport a fingerprint scanner. It would definitely make sense, as the HTC One Max, Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5S, all sport one and LG would surely want to be part of the club.
