Assassin’s Creed Unity Requires Extreme Co-operation in Stealth Missions

Ubisoft revealed during the E3 2014 event that they are bringing four player co-op to Assassin’s Creed Unity.

Most people assumed that it will be another co-operative affair where you could go with your partner and wipe out every enemy on the map. If you were living with this assumption, then you are completely wrong. During a recent hands-on time with the game, we easily understood that the game is all about making sure you go slow, use stealth and most of all wait for your partner to make joint decisions.

Anyone who tries to kill them all at one stroke will end up dead and lose the entire mission. The game offers a dedicated single player campaign which follows the footsteps of the lead character Arno, besides the four player story missions with specific quests. Apart from this, you will also have side missions and quests in every city to complete, which makes Unity a complete game that should offer hours of non-stop gaming fun.

Heist Missions

During a recent interview, Lesley Phord Toy, producer of Assassin’s Creed Unity said that the heist missions have been designed in such a way that they have a more systemic approach to it. Instead of trying to reveal a story, it will be more about non-linear game play where you have to plan your every move in order to succeed.

“The missions don’t end as soon as you finish them. It will rather be playable every time, whenever you like to find a different route to complete the same task. Besides, the map will keep changing as well. The movement of the guards’ patterns will be altered while the placement of the treasure will be in a new destination when you restart the map. This should keep every player trying to beat their score and keep playing the same level over and over again.”

Teaming Up With Friends

Later, during the game play demo, it was clearly evident that Assassin’s Creed Unity will punish you if you stray away from your team. You are no longer the solo Assassin anymore but have to learn to be part of a team. The more dedicated you are to your friends, the easier it will be to win the heist missions. Trying to go solo will get you killed and end in total disaster. Another additional feature found in the game is that the game doesn’t end as soon as your teammate dies. If he is in a safe situation without being surrounded by guards, you can revive him and continue the match. Such co-op elements have been used in multiple games in the past, but it is being used in an Assassin’s Creed game for the first time.

Character customization classes will also be part of these co-op heist missions. You will be able to choose between different classes, including Deadly, Agile, Resilient or Unseen. The names are self –descriptive. You can either go stealth, be quick or choose to be a fighter, to beat guards in duel all the time. Assassin’s Creed Unity is being launched on November 11, on PS4, Xbox one and PC.
