Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 – Top Specs and Price Comparison

Today we thought we’d cover two of Samsung’s Tab devices to give some options to readers looking to buy a new tablet. Both the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 are great devices, but there are still some differences between the two which brings one on top of the other. Let’s take a closer look at the specs to figure out which one is the best tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5

The “10.5” part in the Tab’s name is actually the display size, meaning that the diagonal measures 10.5 inches. It is quite a large tablet, and with the right specs in display – the device will provide great imaging.

Display & Design

Regarding design, we can see somewhat of a resemblance to Samsung’s flagship smartphone: the Galaxy S5. This tablet is naturally thicker (0.26 inches) which can actually be a good thing because it gives the user a good grip. As for display, we see a Super AMOLED model (we’ve already told you it measures 10.5 inches) that comes with a pixel density of 288 pixels per inch. What we feel Samsung should of invested in is scratch resistant capabilities and a proximity sensor.

Specifications, Camera & Battery

The processor that powers the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 is an octa core which is provided with 3072 MB of RAM to give a smooth, pleasant user experience. The battery housed by the tablet has a capacity of 7900 mAh which is estimated to last around 24 hours.

The rear-facing camera comes with 8MP and features like: 1080p HD video shooting (30fps), CMOS image sensor, geo tagging, LED flash and autofocus. The front-facing camera has 2.1MP.

Price

If you’re looking to buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5, then you can find the tablet at the price of $436.00.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1

Samsung released this tablet in the month of April, this year. As you’ve probably suspected, the “10.1” in the name refers to the display size: 10.1 inches. The market was expecting a lot of things from the Tab 4, but we hear that Samsung didn’t quite deliver. Let’s take a closer look at the specs and see if the tablet is worth the buy.

Display & Design

Even though the tablet is as well thinner and smaller than the Galaxy Tab S 10.5, it is actually heavier by 20 grams. The display seen on the Tab 4 10.1 is slightly smaller than the one seen at its counterpart. The pixel density is inferior to the one seen on the Tab S, seeing how it only has 149 pixels per inch. What we felt was missing on the other tablet, is missing here too: proximity sensor and scratch resistant capabilities.

Specifications, Camera & Battery

The processor that powers the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 is a quad core that is equipped with 1536 MB of RAM. The battery unit housed by the tablet has a capacity of 6800 mAh.

The rear-facing camera has only 3MP and we feel that is quite disappointing, seeing how it doesn’t have flash or autofocus. Samsung did manage to save the tablet somehow, showing off 720p video shooting. The front-facing camera has 1.3MP.

Price

If you’re looking to buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, you can find this tablet at the price of $317.99.
