These phones are very different from each other not only because they run on different operating systems, but also because of the discrepancy between their specs and features. While the S5 Mini is one of the most expensive mid range smartphones, the Lumia 635 targets the “poorer” clients. But, it doesn’t really look like a cheap phone.
Displays and sizes
The Galaxy S5 Mini is water resistant, surviving under water up to 30 minutes. It’s also dust resistant and has a fingerprint sensor, a Super AMOLED display with the size of 4.5inches, with 16M colors, which supports a resolution of 720x1280pixels and a pixel density of 326ppi. The device is quite light, although it features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect the display. The body size of the S5 is 131.1×64.8×9.1mm.
The Lumia 635 has a screen of the same size, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, but the resolution is lower – 480x854pixels and so is the pixel density – 218ppi. The phone has a ClearBlack IPS LCD display, it weights 134grams and its dimensions are 129.5×66.7×9.2mm.
Hardware and OS
The S5 Mini has 1.5GB of RAM which supports the 1.4GHz quad core processor. It has 16GB of built in storage which is expandable up to 64GB and it is based on the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) OS. The Lumia 635 comes with a quad core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor, which is backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset and it uses an Adreno 305 GPU. It hosts 8GB of internal memory – expandable up to 128GB and it runs on the Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1 OS with 512MB of RAM.
Cameras
The Samsung handset takes pictures with an 8MP primary camera with features such as 3264x2448pixels, autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, geo tagging, HDR, face detection and panorama, and it can record videos at 1080p@30fps. Also, there’s a 2.1MP camera on the front which also records videos at 1080p@30fps. The Lumia 635 has only a camera on the back with a resolution of 5MP and with autofocus, geo tagging, panorama, 1/4” sensor size and video recording capabilities at 720p@30fps.
Batteries
Both of the handsets have Li-Ion batteries. The S5 Mini features a 2100mAh battery unit which should provide up to 10 hours of talk time on 3G. The Nokia model has a lower battery capacity – 1830mAh (BL-5H) which paradoxically lasts longer, allowing up to 14 hours of talktime on 3G.

The Mini variant of the Galaxy S5 can be bought from amazon.com at the price of 419.50 dollars. The Lumia 635 is only 130 dollars.
