Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 vs. Grand 3

Samsung Galaxy Grand is one of the best selling medium range phones in the market.

With its variants such as Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 and Grand Neo, it has taken the market by a storm. After initial hiccups with steady sales of Galaxy Grand due to screen problems and processor issues, the success of Galaxy Grand 2 and its successor the cheaper Grand Neo, Samsung has recovered its sales loss with the predecessor phone.

Galaxy Grand 2, which weighs about 163g with a 5.25 screen, is pretty easy to handle. What sets it apart from other phones in the range is the 8MP camera along with 2MP front camera and a very faster reliable processor, which is Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400. Equipped with a 2600mAh battery, which gives a talk time of 17 hours for 3G, it’s a good phone for extended use throughout the day without the worry of having to charge it.

With speculation of Galaxy Grand 3 release in October this year, there is both fear and excitement for Samsung for its product release. The fear is due to the ability of Galaxy Grand 3 to compete with its own brothers Grand 2 and Grand Neo.

The new Galaxy Grand 3 is expected to retain the same size of 5.4 inches as Neo and have a 2GB RAM with Exynos Quad Core processor. The rear camera is expected to be upgraded to 12-13 MP with a 5MP front camera. The battery would be standard in the range of 2600-3000 mAh, while the new technologies embedded could be its quality of water-proof and being dustproof modeled after SONY Xperia Z series. Although owing to such features, the market price might be upgraded to the INR 22,000 range people won’t mind investing in a phone with such upgrades for just 2000-3000 INR more for a reliable brand such as Samsung. Also, the internal memory might be 8GB and up to 64GB expendable such as in Galaxy Note Series.

However, these are just speculations as the information on this product is kept tightly in wraps as it might be released alongside iPhone 6, if they are planning to counter the boost in Apple sales. The only thing for sure is the introduction of full HD displays due to the trend with high end HD screen in the market right now. We can easily expect 2K resolution display in Grand 3, but not Super AMOLED display, which is due to the inhibition by TFT screen.

With just speculations, it would be too early now to compare Galaxy Grand 2 vs. Galaxy Grand 3. However, expectations are high for Grand 3 to turn out to be a much better choice than its precursor.
