OnePlus One vs HTC One M8 vs One M7 – Top Prices and Specs Comparison

Here, we have a battle in mobile devices between a Chinese company and a Taiwanese company. We all know that HTC has created many laudable smartphones and the One M8 and One M7 were well-received by the fans, but we have another suggestion for you, the OnePlus One device, which offers the same or even a better hardware performance.

Displays and sizes

In descending order of sizes, the OnePlus One takes the lead with its 5.5inches LTPS LCD display, being followed by the One M8 with its 5inches Super LCD3 display, while its predecessor has a 4.7inches display that uses the same technology. All three smartphones support the same resolution of 1080x1920pixels. The pixel density varies from phone to phone: 401ppi (OnePlus One), 441ppi (One M8) and 469ppi (One M7). The OnePlus One and the One M8 have their screens protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The One M7 was released earlier, so it’s protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Being smaller, the M7 is lighter, weighting 143grams (137.4×68.2×9.3mm), being followed by the One M8, which weights 160grams (146.4×70.6×9.4mm), while the OnePlus One is 2grams heavier (152.9×75.9×8.9mm), but it’s slimmer than the two opponents.

Hardware and OS

The OnePlus One and the HTC One M8 are very powerful, being equipped with incredibly fast processors. They are both powered by a quad core 2.5GHz Krait 400 processor (the One M8 for the US market has a processor clocked at 2.3GHz) and are using a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset, but the OnePlus is using the MSM8974AC series, while the M8 has the MSM8974AB series. Also, they both have an Adreno 330 GPU. The M7 is using an Adreno 320 GPU, it’s powered by a quad core 1.7GHz Krait 300 processor, and the chipset is Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600.

Regarding the RAM capacity, the OnePlus One is privileged to have 3GB of RAM, in combination with 16/64 GB of ROM, unexpandable. Both the HTC models have 2GB of RAM, but the One M8 has 16/32 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128GB, while the M7 has two variants of internal memories, 32 and 64GB, which can’t be expanded.

All three smartphones are running on the Android platform. The OnePlus One runs on v4.4.2 (KitKat), which is upgradable to v4.4.4 (KitKat), and has CyanogenMod on top of it. The One M8 comes loaded with v4.4.2 (KitKat), but it’s upgradable to v4.4.3 (KitKat) and uses HTC Sense UI v6, while its predecessor came loaded with v4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), and later was upgraded to v4.3 (Jelly Bean) and v4.4.3 (KitKat), respectively, and uses HTC Sense UI v5.

Cameras

The primary camera on the OnePlus One is 13MP, by Sony BSI, and has some useful features such as autofocus, dual-LED flash and video recording at 2160p@30fps. It has a 5MP camera on the front, just like the One M8, but the HTC model has a dual Ultrapixel camera on the front with the resolution of 4MP, with which you can shoot 3D photos. The One M7 has a simple 4MP Ultrapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 2.1MP camera on the front. The latest HTC model records videos at 1080p@60fps, while the older model records videos at 1080p@30fps.

Batteries

The batteries on all three smartphones are Li-Po and non-removable. The OnePlus One has the biggest battery, with the capacity of 3100mAh, being followed by the One M8 with a 2600mAh battery, and lastly, the One M7 has a 2300mAh battery.

Prices

The OnePlus One 16GB variant costs 299 dollars, while the 32GB variant is priced at 349 dollars. The HTC One M8 32GB variant is available at 654 dollars, while the 32Gb variant of the One M7 costs 350 dollars.
