The Ascend P6 from Huawei has a reputation of being the slimmest device on the market, with just 6.5 mm for thickness. The Motorola Moto X has a very interesting, curvy design which means that the thickness gets from 5.6 mm to 10.4 mm. The Huawei Ascend Mate is well known for its large display, a 6.1 inches model which makes this handset a phablet, rather than a smartphone. The Moto X and the Ascend P6 both come with 4.7 inches displays which are significantly smaller than what we saw on Huawei’s other device. The screen resolution rendered by the three handsets is of 720 pixels (HD).
The Motorola Moto X is powered by a dual core processor working at 1.7 GHz paired up with the Motorola X8 (Mobile Computing System) chipset from Qualcomm. As for Huawei’s devices, both are powered by quad core processors working at 1.5 GHz paired up with Hisilicon K3V2 chipsets.
Huawei gave both the Ascend P6 and the Ascend Mate 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory space (with the option of expanding the memory via microSD card). The Motorola Moto X comes with 2 GB of RAM as well, but this one can be purchased with two options of internal storage capacity: 16 GB and 32 GB. Motorola didn’t equip this smartphone with a microSD card slot, meaning that the memory is not expandable.
The Huawei Ascend Mate is equipped with an 8 MP primary camera. Huawei gives the Ascend P6 an 8 MP main camera as well, with a great secondary camera of 5 MP. The Motorola Moto X showcases the best rear-facing camera of 10 MP, but the secondary camera is inferior at 2 MP.
The Moto X comes bundled with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean version of operating system from Google. The Ascend P6 from Huawei rocks the same OS, but the Ascend Mate runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. We are expecting updates from Huawei coming soon for Android 4.2 and Android 4.3.
