Today we thought we would make things interesting by comparing two handsets from two different worlds: the HTC Desire 816 which is a high end phone and the LG G2 Mini which was designed as a more affordable version of the LG G2. Keep reading to find out the differences between the two, and to establish if the pricier one is worth the money.

HTC Desire 816

HTC released the Desire 816 in April 2014. The smartphone sports the same typical HTC design, but let’s take a closer look at what else this device has to offer.

Design & Display

The display seen on the HTC Desire 816 is a Super LCD2 with 16 M colors model measuring 5.5 inches. The 16 M colors and the pixel density of 267 pixels per inch guarantee for a bright image and great graphics.

Specifications, Camera & Battery

HTC equipped the Desire 816 with a quad core processor working at 1.6 GHz backed up by 1.5 GB of RAM for a smooth performance. As for internal storage capacity, we’re given 8 GB of space (if you choose to use a microSD card, you can expand this memory by up to 128 GB). The battery unit has a capacity of 2600 mAh.

Regarding camera, we can see that the primary camera has 13 MP and a resolution of 4160 x 3120 pixels.

Price

If you want to buy the HTC Desire 816, you can find this device at the price of $374.99.

LG G2 Mini

The LG G2 Mini also hit the markets in April 2014, coming with a special feature we didn’t see on the Desire 816: dual SIM support. Let’s review its other specs and see if this handset is any match for HTC’s smartphone.

Design & Display

The display seen on the LG G2 Mini is significantly smaller than the one seen on its counterpart, measuring 4.7 inches. Being an IPS LCD model, it comes with a pixel density of 234 pixels per inch which brings out quite a bright, sharp image. What we see here that the HTC doesn’t have is the added protection by the existence of the Corning Gorilla Glass 2.

Specifications, Camera & Battery

The processor that powers the LG G2 Mini is a quad core working at 1.2 GHz which is backed up by 1 GB of RAM. Both devices run on the same operating system, which makes sense since they were released in the same period of time. The operating system is Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and they also share the same GPU: Adreno 305. The battery unit is removable and has a capacity of 2440 mAh.

The camera unit has 8 MP with features like LED flash and HD video shooting.

Price

If you want to buy the LG G2 Mini, you can find this handset at the price of $231.98.
