HTC Desire 516 vs LG L80 – Best Price and Specs Comparison

When two phones are very similar in features, it’s hard to pick a winner, but we’ll try to compare the HTC Desire 516 with the LG L80, highlighting every phone’s advantages. The HTC model came in June this year, with a decent price, but the L80 is even cheaper. You’ll notice that the metallic gray variant of the Desire 516 looks a lot like the HTC One. Nothing spectacular about LG80’s appearance, since it’s just another plastic phone.

Displays and sizes

Both of these phones have displays of the same size – 5inches. However, the HTC Desire 516’s screen supports a higher resolution – 540x960pixels which gives a pixel density of 220ppi. You can’t have high expectations from this phone, since it offers only a moderate brightness. As for the dimensions, we can say that it’s quite thick, measuring 9.7mm, it’s 140mm tall, has a width of 72mm and it weights 160grams.

The LG L80 comes with an IPS LCD screen with 16M colors and a resolution of 480x800pixels. Unfortunately, you’ll get a mediocre pixel density of 187ppi, but for a budget friendly phone, these low-end features are… normal! ON the other hand, the phone is lighter as it weights 140grams, but it’s taller – 174.3mm, it has a width of 138.2mm and the same thickness as the Desire 516.

Hardware and OS

The HTC handset and the LG phone share a Cortex A7 processor, clocked at 1.2GHz, based on a Qualcomm MSM8210 Snapdragon 200 chipset and they both use an Adreno 302 GPU. But Desire 516’s processor is quad core, while L80’s processor is dual core.

Other common features: they both run on the same Android platform, but the Desire 516 comes loaded with v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), while the L80 is running on v4.4.2 (KitKat). Also, they both have 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage, expandable up to 32GB. These phones would perform better with a more powerful processor, but they’re perfect for regular activities that don’t require a high hardware performance.

Cameras

Both phones have modest rear cameras with the resolution of 5MP and mutual features such as LED flash and geo tagging. In addition, L80’s camera features autofocus, touch focus, panorama and face detection. The front camera on the Desire 516 is 2MP which records videos at 480p, while L80’s secondary camera is TBD.
Batteries

The Desire 516 hosts a Li-Po 1950mAh battery which lasts 9 hours when talking on 3G, but it’s weaker than L80’s battery – Li-Ion 2540mAh.

Prices

As we told you at the beginning of this article, these phones are very cheap. They are available on amazon.com at these prices: HTC Desire 516 – 229 dollars and the LG L80 – 253 dollars.
