Galaxy S5 vs LG G3 – Features Comparison

The electronics Korean Giants LG and Samsung are at logger heads in almost every category where they both operate but in when it comes to smartphones, Samsung has been leading way ahead of LG.

Samsung’s Galaxy 5S has been the face of the Android market and has topped smartphone sales in many countries. LG on the other hand had a shaky beginning in the world of smartphones but is now catching attention when it released the LG G3 in the U.S. market.

So you ask – which is a worthy contender in this epic battle of Galaxy S5 vs LG G3. Well, read on to find out who manages to score over its rival…

Design

The most obvious and prominent difference between the two phones is that the LG G3 is larger as the display is way bigger and wider. The phone is a little taller and much thicker. But this is not a great difference when compared to its close rival, the Galaxy whose bezel is getting thinner with every release. The LG has taken the bezel size to another extent by making it a display that is almost edge to edge.

The Feel and Look

Both the phones are the usual plastic phones that are a common feature with most smartphones. They have removable back panels. Even with the same materials used, the finish is distinct from each other. The GS 5 has accents that are more reflective and the design is definitely more on the square side. LG G3 on the other have has corners that are more rounded with bezels that are quite thin; the back has a metallic finish. The G3 feels way sleeker because of the texture in its back panel, glossy but neat, the matte plastic coating of Galaxy 5S on the other hand has a soft touch. For handling in single hand, the LG G3 is a definite better choice, especially for a 5.5 inch phone.

Processor

Both of the handsets are matches quite evenly when it comes to processing power which is a Snapdragon 801 quad core chip from Qualcomm of 2.5GHz. It has an Adreno 330 GPU (Graphics Processor) and a RAM of 2GB. This is the latest in the Android market and the performance is definitely fast especially when it comes to working of Android 4.4 KitKat. Gaming, multitasking are both handled on a similar level of performance by both models.

Storage

Both LG G3 and Galaxy S5 have storage variants of 32 GB but so far just the 16GB models are available in the UK market. Both the phones are on par with each other since they have micro SD slots that support memory cards up to 128 GB.

Battery

When it comes to battery, G3 wins, since tests indicate that a single charge lasted for over a day to another day and a half. LG has a bigger 3000 mAH removable battery. The 5S though has a battery that is 2800 mAH and has a very good Ultra Power Saving mode.

Connectivity

Both the smartphones have very good connectivity options like Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Hotspot, GPS, NFC, Micro USB and MHL TV-Out. The 5S beats G3 with an infrared that can be used to control a TV.

Camera

The camera in Galaxy S5 will be a 16 megapixel one. S5 is installed with the new ISOCELL sensor technology; it has an aperture with f/2.2. The camera has video capture that has a 4K and 1090p with LED flash. The LG G3 is around 13 megapixels with dual LED flash. It has 4K/1080p video capture and dual LED flash. The OIS has autofocus with laser. Galaxy S5 scores above LG G3 when it comes to Camera.

So, the choice depends upon the usability of the consumer based on the features he/she will find most useful.
