Raiding with Balloons in Clash of Clans is a great strategy that will be successful in low level trophies, but will work well on the above 2400 trophies too. One balloon will take 5 housing spaces and about 8 minutes to train it. Let’s assume you have 4 barracks training only balloons. This will take you about 25 minutes to fill all the 200 housing space you have (army camps of level 6). In case you have some gems to spare and boost your barracks, this will get 4 times faster and the troops will be ready in only 6minutes and 15 seconds.
Another thing that you should know when using this strategy, is that your main targets will be the defensive buildings. With other words, your balloons will attack firstly the defensive buildings before attacking any other kind of buildings.
The balloons have a very low movement speed such as the Giants. They are actually slower than Giants, since Giants have a movement speed of 12 and balloons only 10. Because of this, you will always have to take into consideration, their slow movement speed and the order they will go for the defensive buildings.
Attacking Strategy
While attacking with the ground troops, you will ignore the air defensive buildings as they won’t harm you in anyway. But when you are attacking with balloons, those are the buildings that can destroy your army and because of that, they need to be targeted and destroyed as soon as possible. Keep in mind that the air defensive buildings will 2-3 shoot a balloon. This is the reason why you will need to attack bases that have their air defensive buildings pretty exposed.
At the same time, you should try to lure out the clan castle defender. Many players will have archers and the Arch Queen inside the Clan Castle, which are able to attack air units. At the same time, don’t care much about the King, since he can’t attack air units.
Another strategy that usually works with balloons is when you use dragons to take damage from your balloons. While the dragons are being attacked, your balloons will destroy the air defensive. The bad part of this strategy is that it takes a lot more to train the dragons.
A better strategy is the one when you will use Balloons with Minions. While using this strategy you ca either deploy a few groups in order to destroy the air defenses in different places from the village you are raiding, or send them all in one place. Either way, it works well, but with a little of practice you will see how this strategy works better for you.
