In the last years, we’ve seen an increase in terms of sizes, and the biggest smartphones were “baptized” phablets. Apple didn’t join the trend and kept its smartphones mid-sized. But, the other manufacturers made some mini versions of their big screen phablets and today we’ll compare the HTC One Mini with the Galaxy S4 Mini and the iPhone 5.
Sizes and Weights
The HTC One Mini is bigger and heavier than the two smartphones, being 5.2inches tall/2.49inches wide/0.36inches thick and weighting 0.27pounds.
The next in line is the S4 Mini, with its sizes of 4.91×2.41×0.35inches. This smartphone weights 0.24pounds.
The iPhone 5 has these dimensions: 4.87×2.31×0.3inches, and it weights only 0.25pounds.
Displays and Resolutions
Because it’s taller, it means that it has a bigger screen. We’re talking about the HTC One Mini, which has a 4.3inches Super LCD screen with a resolution of 1280x720pixels and 341ppi.
The iPhone 5 has only a 4inches IPS LCD screen, but with a lower resolution – 1136x640pixels and 326ppi.
On the third position we find the Galaxy S4 Mini, with a 4.3inches Super AMOLED screen that renders a much lower resolution than the other smartphones – 960x540pixels and 256ppi.
Hardware and OS
This time, the S4 Mini ranks first and wins the battle of fast processors. It’s powered by a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, being followed by the HTC One Mini with its 1.4GHz Snapdragon 400 processor, and on the third position we find the iPhone 5which does its best to impress you with its 1GHz A6 chip.
Also, the S4 Mini has 1.5GB of RAM and it runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean – just like the HTC One Mini, but the second phone has 1GB of RAM. The iPhone 5 runs on the iOS 6 with 1GB of RAM.
The HTC One Mini’s internal memory is of 16GB, but it’s unexpandable, while the S4 Mini offers 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 64GB. The iPhone 5 has three variants of unexpandable internal memories: 16/32/64GB.
Cameras
The S4 Mini and the iPhone 5 have 8MP cameras on the back and 1.9MP, respectively 1.2MP cameras on the front. The HTC One Mini sports a 4MP UltraPixel primary camera and a 1.6Mp secondary camera.
Batteries
The S4 Mini wins the competition again with its 1900mAh battery. The HTC One Mini occupies the second position, with an 1800mAh battery, but it’s non-removable, just like iPhone 5’s 1449mAh battery.
