Samsung Galaxy Note 8 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 – Top Specs and Price Comparison

Samsung manages to surprise us with every smartphone or tablet that is released on the market. The Galaxy Note family is rich in “members” and today we decided to compare the one with a 8inches screen and the tablet with a 10.1inches display. They’re similar and yet so different, and it’s only up to you to decide which one is worth buying.

Displays and sizes

The Galaxy Note 8 and the Note 10.1 support the same screen resolution: 800x1280pixels, but the first device has a TFT display with the size of 8inches, while the other tablet has a PLS TFT display with the size of 10.1inches.

The dimensions of the Galaxy Note 8 are 210.8×135.9x8milimeters and it weights 338grams. The Note 10.1 is 262grams heavier, but it’s a lot bigger, measuring 262x180x8.9milimeters.

Hardware and OS

Both of the tablets are powered by the same quad core cortex A9 processor, but Galaxy Note 8’s processor is clocked at 1.6GHz, while Note 10.1’s processor is clocked at 1.4GHz. Also, both of the tablets come with the same Exynos 4412 chipset. The first device has two variants of internal memories: 16 and 32GB, expandable up to 64GB. The other model has three variants of internal memories: 16 and 32GB – expandable up to 64GB, and a 64GB variant.

The Note 8 runs on the Android Jelly Bean OS with 2GB of RAM. The Note 10.1 comes loaded with the Ice Cream Sandwich version, which is upgradeable to the Jelly Bean version, and like its sibling, it has 2GB of RAM.

Cameras

Again, these tablets seem to have a lot of features in common. They take pictures with their 5MP primary cameras, but besides the autofocus feature, the Note 10.1 comes also with LED flash. The secondary camera on the first device is of 1.3MP, while the other tablet has a 1.9MP front camera.

Batteries

Both of the tablets have non-removable Li-Ion batteries, but of different capacities: the Note 8 – 4600mAh and the Note 10.1 – 7000 mAh.

Prices

The Galaxy Note 8 16GB 3G, Wi-Fi variant costs 393 dollars. The Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 16GB 3G variant costs 476 dollars. The 32GB variant costs 500 dollars.
