Sony has watched the likes of Apple and Samsung dominate the high-end smartphone industry with their iPhone 5S and the Samsung Galaxy S4 in recent years.
The reason models introduced by Sony have not been as successful as its predecessors. The company plans to make changes by offering radical features in its Sony Xperia Z1 phone. This will be the flagship model of the company for the next year, but it also has plans to tap the segment beneath it by offering the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact in a price point just below it.
Two Models for Different Segments
It is not only slicker in terms of price, but design is also much more suited to the smaller hands. Sony has achieved this by opting for a 4.3 inch display in the Xperia Z1 Compact as opposed to the 5 inch unit in the flagship model. The company has managed to keep the pixel density relatively same in both models despite offering varied resolutions.
The Sony Xperia Z1 comes with a full HD display while the Compact version only offers a 720p display. However, Sony has not sacrificed technology in the Compact version since it comes with both the Triluminos display and the X-Reality Engine – flagship technologies of Sony in its TV division.
Almost Similar Processing Speeds
Even though both phones are at different price brackets, customers will be able to experience a similar performance since the majority of the hardware specifications are almost similar. As the flagship model, the Xperia Z1 comes with a very powerful quad core 2.2 GHz Snapdragon processor, while it relies upon the Adreno 330 for its graphics processing unit. It has 2 GB of RAM, which is more than sufficient to run several applications at once.
