Sony Xperia T3 – Specs, Features and Price

After the Z2, Sony has come up with the latest and slimmest handset with Xperia T3. It has a premium design, being a curious mix of high and mid range features.

Screen, Display and Dimensions

The Sony T3 has a screen display of 5.3 inches with an IPS LCD screen, but the resolution is lower than the Z2 at 1280 x 720, with a pixel density of 277 ppi. The pictures and text are sharp and reading and browsing can be done comfortably. Colors are rich and offer good contrast, with the device using the TRILUMINOS technology along with Sony’s Bravia Engine 2. It is the slimmest phone ever, being just 7 mm in thickness and fits comfortably in the hand.

The Sony Xperia T3 comes with dimensions of 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm and weighs 148g. It has a matte finish though a metal effect finish is also available.

Processor, OS and Power

The Sony T3 does not come with high power and runs on a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor. This is clocked at 1.4 GHz and is combined with a RAM of 1 GB. It performs quite well despite the big screen. It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat version and is great for browsing and watching videos.

Camera – the Big Feature

Along with the super slim design, another major feature of the Sony T3 is the camera. The sensor is only an 8 MP one, but it employs the Exmor RS technology, which will enable the device to take great pictures even in low light conditions. The Superior Auto feature also makes it very easy to use. This is an advanced feature and is able to recognize a maximum of 36 types of scenes. HDR can also be turned on or off whenever necessary. Tough it does not have the great camera specifications of the flagship device Z2, it comes with other features, such as timeshift burst and portrait retouch as well as some creative effects. The camera also has a 8x digital zoom and can take video records at a resolution of 1080p.

All this makes the T3 Camera a great point and shoot device. It also has a front facing camera of 1.1 MP for video calling and selfies. The phone is also packed with a suite of applications, both social and camera apps.

Storage

The Sony Xperia T3 comes with a built-in storage of 8 GB and it also comes with a microSD card slot for increasing storage capacity up to 32GB. The NFC and 4G LTE features give it good connectivity. This is combined with the regular Wi Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. A battery of 2500 mAh backs the device. The device will probably release by July end this year. Though there is no news about the price, it will be an upper middle range device for those who would like a big screen.

Verdict

The Sony Xperia T3 has been created with a great attention for detail and is meant for users who can appreciate its distinctive design. It is packed with all the latest technology of Sony. This includes expert digital imaging features and an amazing HD display. All of this is offered in a stylish and contemporary steel frame. The release date is not yet fixed but it will be available globally by July end 2014. The device is available in white, black as well as purple and it will come in a mid range price. The T2 comes to around $400, so the T3 is expected to be a little higher.
