If you’re looking for a mid-sized tablet, we have here a comparison between two great tablets of this kind: Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and Apple’s iPad Mini 2. Keep reading to find out which one of these is best and which would be worth the buy.
The Price
There is quite a price difference between the two tablets. Apple is not known for its low prices, so you could imagine that the pricier device is the iPad Mini 2 at the price of $347.47. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 is priced at $109.99. But don’t let the price influence your idea of the tablets because a lower price doesn’t especially mean low quality, or vice versa.
Design & Display Specs
When looking at the exterior outlook, we can see that Apple’s device has brushed aluminum finish with defined corners. The device’s display has 7.9 inches and is overall a very nice looking tablet.
Samsung’s tablet is also a beautiful tablet having a shiny finish. The display of this device is smaller, measuring 7 inches.
The Plastic Obsession
While we love the outlook of the Samsung tablet the same as the Apple one, we can see that the South Korean tech giant has a bit of an obsession with using plastic for the exterior case. While the plastic does have better shock absorbing capabilities, it might be a deciding factor some users that want a smooth aluminum finish. The screen resolution on this device is of 1024 x 600 pixels.
Apple did opt for aluminum which gives the tablet a classier, more elegant effect. The device comes with Retina Display that can render a higher screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels.
More Specification and Features
We saw the differences in outlook and display, but there are actually quite a few similarities between the two tablets. The iPad Mini 2 and Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 resemble each other when it comes to CPU speed, camera performance and internal storage capacity. The iPad Mini 2 offers a bigger storage capacity (32 GB) than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (16 GB). But the Samsung compensates with its microSD card slot which means that you can use a microSD card to expand your memory by up to 64 GB. The iPad does not showcase this feature.
The Verdict
If you’re looking for a budget friendly device, Samsung’s tablet is a great device for its price.
The iPad Mini 2 does have better specs when it comes to processor and display, but the high price is a big downside to the device.
Overall, both are great choices, depending on what you’re looking for: better specs or lower price.
