If you don’t like the Galaxy S4 because of its large size, buy its little brother, which has a lower resolution. But if you don’t have high expectations from this phone’s features and all you want is to take photos with an 8MP camera, then the Galaxy S4 Mini meets your needs. The iPhone 5 is a cool phone: elegant, powerful, but its weakness is the battery.
Display and Design
The Galaxy S4 Mini won’t impress you much with its 4.3inch Super AMOLED screen, since it renders a resolution of only 540x960pixels. The iPhone 5 has a smaller screen – 4 inches, and it’s a LED-backlit IPS LCD that supports a higher resolution of 640x1136pixels.
The Galaxy S4 Mini is measuring 124.6×61.3×8.9mm and weighs 107grams, while the iPhone 5 is 5grams heavier, although it’s slightly smaller – 123.8×58.6×7.6mm.
Hardware and OS
The Galaxy S4 Mini doesn’t stand out with its chipset, which is Qualcomm MSM8930 Snapdragon 400, but the 1.7GHz dual core krait processor does a good job and the phone is running smoothly. The internal memory is of 8GB but you can expand it up to 64GB.
The iPhone 5, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.3GHz dual core swift processor and has Apple’s A6 chipset. There are three variants of unexpandable internal memories: 16, 32 and 64GB.
While the Galaxy S4 Mini is running on the Android Jelly Bean OS with 1.5GB of RAM, the iPhone 5 runs on Apple’s iOS 6, which is upgradeable to the iOS 7 and has only 1GB of RAM.
Cameras
Both of the devices have primary cameras with the same resolution – 8MP and similar features – LED flash and autofocus. However, the Galaxy S4 Mini has a better secondary camera – 1.9MP, while the secondary camera on the iPhone 5 is of 1.2MP.
Batteries
The Galaxy S4 Mini has a Li-Ion battery with the capacity of 1900mAh, which allows you to talk 12hours, on 3G, or to listen to music for 49hours. The iPhone 5’s battery is non-removable and it’s Li-Po, with a lower capacity – 1440mAh, which allows you to talk 8hours, on 3G, or to listen to music for 40hours.

The price of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini i9190 on amazon.com is 302 dollars. The iPhone 5 16GB variant costs 505 dollars.
