HTC One M8 vs LG G3 S – Top Price and Specs Comparison

The HTC One M8 was released in the Q1 of 2014, being one of the most feature rich phones from the market. It supports 4G and it surely is an expensive phone. The G3 S was announced last month and it will come in August, with a decent price and lots of useful features. We’ll compare these two devices and you’ll decide whether you’ll sacrifice your savings to buy the One M8, or you’ll go with a cheaper phone.
Displays and sizes

The HTC One M8 is using a Super LCD3 display with the size of 5inches. The screen is very bright and the colors are vibrant, plus you’ll get a resolution of 1080x1920pixels and 441ppi, and if you’re worried that you might drop your phone to the ground and the display will be scratched, then we have good news for you: it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The dimensions of this metal looking device are 146.4×70.6×9.4mm and it weights 160grams.

The G3 S has an IPS LCD display of the same size, which is lower in quality, although it’s illuminated by 16M colors. It has a resolution of 720x1280pixels, which gives a pixel density of 294ppi. The G3 S is thicker than the One M8 (10.3mm vs 9.4mm), it’s shorter (137.7mm vs 146.4mm) and its width is of 69.6mm, but it’s lighter, weighting only 134grams.

Hardware and OS

The hardware performance of the One M8 is praiseworthy, because it comes with a quad core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor (US/EMEA) or a quad core 2.5GHz Krait 400 processor (available in Asia, China), based on a Qualcomm MSM8974AB Snapdragon 801 chipset, plus the Adreno 330 GPU really does a great job! The phone has 2GB of RAM and two variants of expandable internal memories of 16 and 32GB, and if you buy a microSD card, you get up to 128GB of internal storage. This smartphone has even NFC and Infrared, which you won’t find at many phones. Also, the device is running on the
Android 4.4.2 (KitKat), but you can upgrade it the 4.4.3 (KitKat) version. The phone comes along with the HTC Sense UI v6.

The G3 S is using a 1.2GHz quad core Cortex A7 processor, which is backed by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset and an older Adreno GPU version (305). This phone is running on the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) OS with 1GB of RAM and has 8GB of built in storage – expandable up to 64GB.

Cameras

For photography, the HTC handset uses a dual 4MP shooter with autofocus, dual-LED (dual tone) flash, 1/3” sensor size and 2µm pixel size, plus many other cool features. Also, it has a 5MP camera on the front, which is more advanced than G3 S’s 1.3MP secondary camera. On the other hand, the LG handset has an 8MP primary camera which can record videos at 1080p@30fps.

Batteries

The One M8’s battery is non-removable, it’s a Li-Po with the capacity of 2600mAh and it allows you to talk 20 hours on 3G. The G3 S’s battery is Li-Ion, but it’s removable and its capacity is slightly lower – 2540mAh.

Prices

The HTC One M8 32GB costs 654 dollars on amazon.com. The G3 S will cost 468 dollars when it will hit the markets.
