(JOPLIN, Mo.) Allen Icet rolled out his star supporter – ‘Joe the Plumber’ – to rally Joplin in support of the State Auditor hopeful.
The problem? Around two dozen showed up for the event, in a room that looked like it expected a couple hundred. ‘Joe’ didn’t hold back.
“Notice all the empty seats,” Joe asked. “That’s a problem.”
‘Joe’ told the crowd, “Your job as good americans is to tell your neighbor.”
He said, “It’s absurd I became famous for asking a question.” He challenged the electorate to question their political leaders.
Icet praised ‘Joe’ for “asking tough questions.”
On the auditor’s race, Icet said, “If you really want to know what Jefferson City is doing, follow the money.”
He said nationally, “We the people have to demand a balanced budget.”
The Joplin stop was on a tour of stops with ‘Joe the Plumber.’ Much has been made about the legitimacy of ‘Joe’s’ support, mostly around being paid to help Icet out.
Allen Icet, a current State Representative who is being termed out of service, is running for State Auditor against Ambassitor Tom Schweich in the Republican Primary in August.
