Micromax Canvas Knight A350 vs. Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 – Features and Performance Compared

Micromax has been trying hard to make a mark for itself in the smartphone arena. The release of the Canvas Knight A350 smartphone has earned a sure shot place for the company in the smartphone race. The Canvas Knight A350 handset is equipped with state of the art features and high end spec sheet, to give its competitors sleepless nights.

In comparison, the Korean giant, who has already established itself as the unprecedented king of the smartphone arena, has been manufacturing handsets suiting the requirements of the masses. The release of the Galaxy Mega 5.8, having a massive 5.8-inch screen is a good example for mid-range smartphone variant, manufactured by Samsung. The resolution is a disappointment along with unimpressive hardware specs. However, the only stand out feature is the massive 5.8-inch display of the Galaxy Mega handset.

Display: A decent 5-inch display of the Micromax handset offers the user with sharp visuals and good colors. In fact, the screen size is so perfect that can be used comfortably by the potential user for various needs. It is a relief that Micromax did not get carried away and equipped the smartphone with a massive 5.5-inch display.

Software: Micromax has been meticulous, while equipping the Canvas Knight handset with decent software. It offers the user with the stock Android version 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. However, the company has made certain additions to the handset, in terms of apps and minor enhancements to the UI. As a result, the handset offers a smooth user interface experience, without any lags and delays.

Hardware: An octa core MediaTek MT6592T processor along with a powerful graphic processor powers the Micromax smartphone. The combination of CPU and GPU is coupled with a RAM of 2GB for smoother functioning of the handset. However, the smartphone stutters at times, after playing a game or clicking a few snaps.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8

In comparison, Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 handset comes equipped with the company’s TouchWiz Nature UX technology.

Software: The custom user interface runs on the Android version 4.2.2 operating system. The software used in the Samsung handset is the latest version of the Android based operating system. A plethora of useful enhancements are scattered all over the user interface. However, the major improvements made by the company are the ones to be appreciated truly by the user.

Some of the commendable features of the Samsung handset are Smart Stay, Blocking Mode and Multi Window Mode. However, the user also has the option to place the on-screen keyboard and keypad on the right and left hand side of the screen. However, the handset is not ideally suited for single hand operations. However, the virtual keypad offers comfortable and easy typing experience.

Dual-SIM Functionality: The Galaxy Mega 5.8 handset comes equipped with dual-SIM functionality. It is worth pointing that both microSIM cards could work simultaneously on the handset.

Hardware: The Broadcom made SoC powers the Galaxy Mega 5.8 handset. In addition, the smartphone sports a 1.4GHz dual core processor along with a VideoCore IV graphic processor for smoother running of the handset. The CPU and GPU combination is coupled with a RAM of 1.5GB.

The Galaxy Mega 5.8 handset comes equipped with internal storage capacity of 8GB, out of which the user gets only 3.65GB of internal memory, the rest being used by software and other stuff. The need for external memory card for memory enhancement becomes a necessity rather than a feature.
