LG G3 vs iPhone 6 – Specs, Features and Price

Apple has finally made the step forward to a device with bigger screen size.

How does the iPhone 6 compares to other high end smartphones on the market? Stay with us as we compare Apple’s device with LG G3.

Design and Display

The iPhone 6 is what you’d expect from an Apple device. It is well made, sleek, beautiful, has a premium feel and is very thin and light. For G3 on the other hand, LG had only one purpose, to offer more screen size on the front end of the display. All the buttons are on the rear, providing edge to edge screen. The downside of LG’s device is that it is built from plastic, unlike the luxurious metal build found on the iPhone 6. We mentioned G3 offers a lot of screen size, 5.5 inches to be exact with a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels and density of 534ppi. While Apple has made progress, the iPhone 6 features “only” 4.7 inches screen size with a resolution of 750×1334 pixels and density of 326ppi. Dimensions of the iPhone 6 are 138x67x6.9 weighting 129 grams. LG G3 competes with dimensions of 146x75x8.9 weighting 149 grams.

Hardware and Operating System

LG G3 features the powerful Snapdragon 801 quad core processor, clocked at 2.5GHz and supported by 3 GB of RAM memory. A device that powerful is music to the ears for fans of mobile games. And when it comes to multitasking and internet browsing, there is no lag and delay whatsoever. Apple competes with its own 64bit A8 dual core processor, clocked at 1.4GHz with 1 GB of RAM memory. Apple has decided to offer less power, but more internal features on the chip that provide users with an incredible speed. Don’t let the dual core 1.4GH fool you, the A8 chip is extremely powerful. Apple’s device comes in versions with 16/64/128 GB built in memory. As always, there is no microSD slot. G3, on the other hand, offers just 16/32 GB versions, but has a microSD slot for additional 128 GB of memory storage.

Comparing the OS of these devices is like apples and oranges, since they run completely different OS. Both operating systems have their advantages. For example, G3 runs on 4.4 KitKat, highly customizable by LG, with several third party launchers and widgets. The iPhone 6 comes with iOS 8, the latest OS from Apple, equipped with several new camera features, applications, options and modes.

Camera

G3 features a 13-MP rear facing camera that can take pictures of 4160×3120 pixels and record 2160p videos at 30fps. The front camera is set at 2-MP. Apple’s device, on the other hand, comes equipped with an 8-MP rear camera, and 1.2 front facing camera.

Battery

LG G3 features a Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery that can handle up to 21 hours of talk time on 3G and last 553 hours on standby mode. The iPhone 6 has a 1800 mAh battery that lasts 14 hours of talk time.

Price

You can say that the slot for microSD makes all the difference in the price department as well. G3 price is set at $599 for the off contract version, but users can get the $199 16 GB version from a carrier, and spend little more on a microSD slot. For that price, Apple’s users can only get the 64 GB version from a carrier. The price for the off contract iPhone 6 is set at $650.
