LG G2 vs. Sony Xperia ZL – Quick Comparison of Interface and Functionality

The second largest company in manufacturing smartphones, LG has been struggling in the smartphone arena lately.

The products offered by the company are good; in fact, better than most other companies’ products released in the market. However, LG’s products lack in terms of finesse, required to make a mark in the smartphone market. However, the release of the nexus series provided some respite for the company. The release of the G2 handset brought the company directly in comparison to a number of handsets from popular companies – one of them being the Xperia ZL from the Japanese giant, Sony.

The 5-inch, 1080p display, 13MP camera and quad core processor brings the Sony Xperia ZL into the high-end smartphone segment. Let us compare both the smartphones with respect to their interface and functionality.

Interface and Functionality

LG G2

Taking the LG G2 first, the smartphone runs on the Android version 4.2.2 operating system. However, the company makes use of its own customer user interface to stir things up in the market. The UI of the company is rated as highly-customizable, which certainly raised some concerns in the Android follower’s tent. Taking a deeper look, the LG G2’s UI is very similar to the TouchWiz technology, offering bright and lively colors in every display.

However, the presence of colorful dummies in the contact list, which lack images, is still a disappointing feature. Moreover, LG has taken the liberty to cram up every possible setting into the notification tray. Overall, the LG G2’s user interface is not a bad performer at all. It provides the user with a cutting edge handset offering decent and fluid movements to the user.

Sony Xperia ZL

Sony Xperia ZL comes equipped with the Android version 4.1.2 operating system. It may not be the state of the art version of OS presently available in the market, but it is comparatively recent in the smartphone industry. In due course, the ZL would be upgraded to the Android version 4.2 OS.

The UI of Sony handsets has been heavily modified with respect to its appearance and functionality. The engineers and designers at Sony have done a wonderful job with the UI. The Xperia ZL comes equipped with a plethora of pre-loaded themes, which differ from each other in terms of their color. The handset also comes equipped with a variety of wallpapers for the home screen and lock screen.

When it comes to wallpapers, the ZL comes equipped with an array of wallpapers suiting your need and requirements. Overall, the Xperia ZL’s user interface is both pretty and practical.
